How to spend $500 to market my website?

I am a distributor for a telecoms/utility supplier in the UK, and I have a website with my own URL, which forwards to their company website. Any sales made on the website earn me commission.

What would be the best way to market this site? I have $500 available to spend on this.

I think you are looking for something SEO not making a new site right?

P.S. Remove your affiliate link from your post... It is not allowed here.

Do a small PPC test to see if the niche is responsive. If it is responsive, test driving them straight to the website, or to a squeeze page. Whichever is more profitable, roll with that one.

Now, from the looks of your site - PPC seems like the way to go. But, whatever you decide, don't spend your entire budget all in one venue. Spread yourself out with your marketing budget. $200 on PPC; $200 on CPV, etc.

Test and track accordingly. You'll find at times that a campaign may not work as you expected the first time around. So, if you blow your entire budget on a campaign - you won't have any money left over to test the 2nd time around to find out why it didn't work in the first place

I would start with solo ads because they can be cheap and can be targeted traffic. You can learn a lot from looking at some of the spam e-mails you get. See which ones pop out to you and you could get a idea for a solo ad. Always invest the money your making back into ads. I would use no less than 20% income back into my ads. Then move up to PPC or Pay-Per-Click. I use Google and Facebook PPC. Best of luck.
    P.S. Look into Youtube too.

Quite honestly, with a $500 budget for PPC, you'll blow right through it. Unless you really know what you're doing with PPC, don't go there.

How're you acquiring your customers at the moment? Perhaps spend more on whatever is already working. Offline campaigns would probably work better, perhaps physical mailing?

The site is basically just my URL which forwards to the company website with my affiliate link, so I can't do much SEO.
Thanks for the advice, I removed the link.

That's just it, I'm not acquiring customers at the moment! I've done no work marketing the website recently. The only customers I have are personal friends or recommendations by friends. I think PPC would be the best way to go with this.

      Thanks for the replies guys.

You've got to be careful about PPC. Use wisely otherwise you'll get yourself burned.

Since you are operating on a tight budget with no room for trial & error, go for targeted traffic from solo-ads mixed with social networking ads. Best of luck !

Spend half the budget on very, very targeted PPC ads. Only use phrase match and exact match keywords, and terms that show the person wants exactly what you're offering. Stuff like "change telecom company" with geotargeting to your location; I don't know exactly what works for what you're selling.

The other half should go to retargeting. Spend $50 on getting some banner ads designed in the standard display sizes (728x90, 160x600 and 300x250). Keep them clean and professional looking, matching the logo and branding of your page. Then set up a retargeting campaign through Google or one of the specialized companies like ReTargeter or AdRoll.

Remarketing means showing your ads only to people that have already been on your site. If someone is actively considering switching utility companies, made a search showing that intent, clicked your ad and visited your page, you want to now remind them over and over for the next month that you're out there. Bring it to mind enough and you have a chance of capturing that sale once they make the decision.

What about a PRWeb.com press release? I purchased their $199 package and got over 500 reads and picked up by 142 news sites including Yahoo News and Digital Journal. I think it was a good bang for my buck as I got both instant (500 reads) and residual (142 pickups with backlinks) benefits. Sort of like PPC and SEO wrapped into one.

At $199 per release, it's probably not for everyone, but if you think about it you'd probably pay more in PPC fees for 500 visitors in the telecoms niche.

If you have any questions let me know.

You could try social media marketing, forum marketing, blog commenting, SEO for your site, etc. Focus on a diverse range of different traffic sources and you'll soon find success.

Depending on your niche, see if you can find high traffic sites in your niche and see if they are offering advertising on their site. Usually on a niche site, the cost for advertising isn't high.

You can outsource this amount to right Website promoter who'll definitely get some saving and perfect results will work. I don't recommend you spend this money to PPC.

If you want a boom to your website for a few and then again get back to none then go for PPC.

But SEO is the first thing you should consider to spend money on. And PPC next.
