Warrior Forum 50 Posts to Enable PM

Hello Warriors,
Can someone please explain to me why I need to have 50 posts or greater to send private messages? I'm mostly active on the warrior special offers sub-forum however, my posts there-no matter how informative-does not count towards my overall post count. This just makes absolutely no sense to me.

I don't need a post to purchase a WSO but I need to have 50 posts to PM the WSO creator? I'd be really nice if the PM function is enabled for the WSO sub-forum. In others words, if I purchase a WSO, I should be able to pm the WSO product creator(s). Warriors, what say you? Thanks!

Because some new members spam through PM..

    Hi Kenni,

The rules for WSOs state that the vendor needs to provide another source of contact other than the PM function.

The 50-post rule is in place to reduce the amount of spam. Nothing personal.

If you are buying a lot of WSOs, then why not invest $37 in a War Room membership? That way you won't need to have 50 posts to send a PM (if I remember correctly) AND you could end up saving a lot of money on WSOs--many of which are free in the War room.

One other point: The WSO section is not a discussion forum.

    All the best,
    Michael

You don't. If you join the War Room, you can send them straight away. I think that's because p.m. spammers aren't normally willing to do that.

That's perhaps because you're not aware of what used to happen before that counting system was introduced. To people who know the history, or can envisage it after some further thought, it makes plenty of sense.

No, because WSO sellers are obliged to offer customers an additional, non-p.m., form of contact.

Yes, I do see that that would be an alternative potential solution to a problem which actually has an existing solution. (Whether it would be feasible to produce that outcome in vBulletin is perhaps a different matter, but an academic one in the circumstances, as you can perhaps see from the comment just above?).

In short: yes, the current system can sometimes be frustrating for people, but it's still better (and actually more popular) than other methods that have been tried in the past, and the specific problem to which you refer has actually been resolved: if you buy a WSO, you will have a way of contacting its seller.
