Is this a good method for finding profitable niche???

Go to wordtracker and look for a keyword with a good amount of daily searches

Go to Google and enter the keywords (if more than one word put in "") to find the compotition.

keywords with around 500,000 results - good

keywords with around 100,000 results - very good

keywords with 50,000 or less results - excellent.

If this a good method then i have found some very good keywords for niches in the investment and fat loss markets.

It's a good way but the figures that you are talking about are higher from Bum Marketing perspective....

    According to bums

keywords with around 10,000 results - good

keywords with around 5,000 results - very good

keywords with 1,000 or less results - excellent.

    Cheers,

I would have to agree Paul. I always look for keywords that have less than 100,000 results when being searched in Google with "".

I think the idea is to find keywords that DO have fairly good competition, otherwise the niche probably isn't profitable. Go with keywords (niches) that are already proven and save yourself the legwork. You're better going for keywords with results higher than 5,000.

You might be confusing search results with search traffic. You want your searches as high as possible but not so there is too much competition. What you're looking for is high searches (the higher the better) and few results.

If you can find keywords with 5,000 searches and only 1,000 sites competing for those keywords, you've got a great match. If the keywords are any good, however, you might want to look for results closer to 10,000 and up.

      Hope this helps.

        Its a combination between:
        searches
        pages in the index
        commercial interest

Looking for high searches, lower pages in the index, and high commercial interest.

I'm releasing a niche list site where you just login and search for niches, all results are niches - theres literally thousands of them. It's about 28 days away from going live but you can go sign up now if you're interested: http://www.nichecrypt.com

Personally I would never use WordTracker.. their results are not from Google and Google is all I'm interested in. If I get listings in Yahoo and MSN then consider it a bonus...

If you search for BIG markets that are spending lots of cash then you will definitely not be able to break into the natural search results unless you buy your way to the top... There is just too much competing websites (Unless you have a few years)...

So the only other way into the top of a BIG market is spending money via PPC and other advertising methods. Either way you'll be spending money...

But, by going for a market with a lower click-through you can dominate quite handily quite quickly in the organic search if you know what you are looking for instead of just guessing like 99% of all the SEO specialists...

This means you'll be able to work on more than one market at a time and see results a heck of a lot faster...

What are you trying to target?

Micro niches? Then that is a good formula...

Not so good if you want heavy traffic...

Although it doesn't take too much laser
targeted traffic to be successful :~)

    Thx,

      Thanks for this guys,

I got that idea and figures from niche marketing on crack, just in really need to actually make this IM work for me. ugh!

I have no money for advertising my sites, so i was looking at making small niche sites and doing mostly social marketing for advertise them.

One of my main plans is to get my small niche site profitable then selling the sites.
If there is anyone out there that wishes to mentor me i would be willing to work something out so your not wasting your time.

Then once i am making good money, i would reinvest the money into ppc marketing and so on to slowly grow an income empire.

      Hoping for more advise people.

just read a post on building back links here, just took a few notes, and i have found a few books on social marketing.

My 5 step plan (comment if you feel there could be improvments)

1.Find a niche (good searches with around 50k to 100k results)
              2.Build a small site (promoting affiliate/cpa offers)
              3.Build a tonnes of backlinks
              4.Build a tonnes of backlinks
              5.Build a tonnes of backlinks

onces making a good profit keep or sell.
