What's the most expensive item you've purchased and not even used once. I know that people buy ebooks and/or software and never even use them or read the ebooks. I was just looking through my old files and found a product that I had purchased with resell rights for $3,000. The sales letter which inspired me to purchase was a physical letter and I was a hot prospect at the time. Other opportunities came and I eventually forgot about that purchase. Would be interested to know anybody else's experiences. |

Hmm... I buy wisely, so I suppose mine has to be spending $250 on Intellichat. Completely changed my business model from an e-book into a membership website, so the campaign they created was worthless. Have asked them to re-design the campaign but i'm better off getting replies from a brick wall. - James. |

I think the most expensive thing I ever purchased and not used was your Wordpress Elite? or Empire?... or whatever it was called. I was under a different name at the time... and, actually, the truth is, you let me in to look around for free. Tell me, when you get a moment, whatever happened to that? | |

Hi Gary, I spent $700 on an expired domain, about three years ago, because it had a perfect fit with a project I had in mind. The project fell through so I installed a blog, added a few articles and haven't touched it. It's been making $70+ a month from Adsense ever since. ;-) John |

I spent $10k getting some software developed and then had someone check it out before I launched it (I already had $30k of pre-orders for it) and found out it had some code snippets which were a little too similar to another software product already on the market and in all good conscience I couldn't sell it in case it had been taken from someone elses software. So I wrote off the $10k and never used or sold the software I'd had made. |

1987 Mazda RX7 Turbo II Bought it with a blown motor for $1400 with the intentions on rebuilding it and making it a total BEAST. But when my other car's motor was going (which also was my baby) I ended up trading the Mazda for a motor rebuild job. Sorry Gary, didn't really have any bad purchase experiences with IM that were worth noting |

I spent $300 on a sampler for my music production studio that I never used because I could never figure out how to use it. Have I mentioned that I hate technology? |

| If you're a true marketer and you're making great money, you'll retract your words here ![]() Sorry. Not to stir up something negative pal. We're all surrounded with tons of rehashed products (not just info-product). But we still end up buying them. Bother to ask why we're behaving this way? I paid $4500 for a watch that I intended to resell quickly on eBay for a quick 30-50% profit. What I didn't know was that buyers in the US would have a pay huge import duties on gold watches. I still have that watch with me 10 year on. |

Mine was Mark Joyners Farewell Package. I dust it off every week or two. $1000.00 I was one of the first ones to purchase that. I even kept the sales letter. Fine piece of work. Never find a sales letter to top it either. The formula in that sales letter turned out to be worth more than the package itself. |

for non-IM - about 3-4 years ago I decided to buy my mom a Christmas gift - something she had talked about for - no kidding - 30 years. It was some impossible to find nicknack collector something or other. I spent about two months searching for it, found it, paid a couple grand to get it to me... could not have been more excited to give it to her on Christmas. So, she opens it and says "Oh, I already have one of these..." and set it aside. Now it is in the attic with her other collector item crap. She got a scarf from Walmart the next year. Seemed to like it better, too. |

Chris: I'll take the car and use it, I promise! This thread supports what i have said in the past, those making money are the ones that are showing people how to make money, not the people who bought the product on how to make money! BUT this is not the case for all products, there are many very sincere and helpful people and products, apart from the dude from singapore selling stuff he knows people won't use, no kind words or respect for you at all, geesh man. When I was developing my stock photo site I bought 5 or 6 different off the shelf scripts, none of which I ended up using, total invested there about..2k maybe? but because of that experience I started writing reviews which in turn brought business and income, so maybe it was a good thing? |

I spent hundreds of dollars on articles and content written by different writers. Many of them were so badly written it would take me much longer to edit them than to write from scratch. And many of them didn't even deliver after they got my money. Lesson learned.

I spent a little over $400 for a product called MailLoop. Was supposed to be the grandmomma of autoresponders. Got everything set up and it never worked properly. I use Get Response now. I have a few other small ones, but this was the biggest $$ mistake I can recall. And ever since the big, very popular $495.00 Real Estate seminars back in the day with Al Lowery and other supposed millionaire real estate investors, there has been and always will be tremendous potential in teaching others how to make money. We all know that. Because we keep buying the stuff and storing it on the shelf. The guru marketers know many of us will buy and never do anything with it. Perhaps we attribute that to their great sales copy combined with our pipe dreams. We get involved in MLM and buy stuff we never put to task as soon as we see the purchase itself did not make us rich. There's nothing "inherently" wrong with being in the business of selling "opportunity." It's a great business to be in. But what is wrong is being in the business of "intentionally" selling useless print. |
