Anyone Have Experience With Pay Per Access on Blogs?

Does anyone have a blog where you used pay per access for certain blog posts or downloadable information?
If so, what seems to be the best price to charge, and was the effort successful?
I have a membership website where users can register free. I'm trying to monetize it with having members pay for premium access as they use it. Does this make sense?

    Anything is possible it is really more about showing the value of your services, will people buy access to content perhaps, but more importantly what about your service would be valuable enough to purchase now that would be a much more interesting question.
