For me, it has been the 'techie' parts of internet marketing. How do you create landing pages, website, Wordpress, creating lists in an auto responder, etc. It is also difficult to know who to trust: a lot of people out there looking for your credit card number.

I can totally understand where you're coming from. But here's my tip for you. Don't let the technical aspects of internet marketing slow you down. Back when I began internet marketing I struggled with the technical stuff also but what I did to overcome that was outsource the technical stuff. I literally had someone else set up my squeeze page for me, my auto responder for me, etc. What I'm trying to say is don't let one aspect of internet marketing slow you down. Focus all of your efforts on what you CAN do and you will be successful.

I struggle most with SEO because it so complicated and there are alot of hard choices to make and it changes constantly. Some hard choices include choosing whether to manually make backlinks or use some kind of software like Magic Submitter.

I understand your question because I used to struggle with SEO as well. The thing about SEO is that you must be willing to adapt in order to be successful in the SEO world. In answer to your question, Do both. Do manual backlinks because it looks more natural in the eyes of Google, but also use softwares like Magic Submitter and Scrapebox to make your life easier. Vary your anchor text and try to avoid blasting your site with a bunch of spammy links. SEO is a long term business model that requires patience to see results.

You have 2 choices. 1) Don't focus on social media marketing. It is not necessary to do social media marketing in order to be successful online. Truth be told, I rarely do social media marketing nowadays. 2) Learn to be more outgoing and make better conversation with people. Become more interested in people, so that they become interested in you.

        I agree with this.

I think it depends on the type of personality you have. Some like it, some don't.

I personally use Twitter,FB and G+1 as bookmarking sites. I don't interact with anyone on them. The only way I interact with people is through my lists, my sites and on forums like this.

That's one of the advantages of IM, there is no right way. Take what you learn and adapt it to your way.

    Hi

My main problem now is trying to get people to sign - up for a free offer to join my list.
I am promoting an almost exclusive free product from a reputable marketer but I have only managed to build a small list. I think this is because I am mainly using free traffic
methods and the traffic which I got was not targeted traffic. I will appreciate it if you can give me some tips on how to rapidly increase the size of my list.

I am also trying to get people to share their experiences so that we can all benefit by
learning from each other. But I must say, that although not many people have contacted
me to share, I have found a lot of useful info in this forum and would like to thank all
    those who have contributed .

Focus on commenting on high traffic blogs in your niche. Join the popular forums in your niche. Get involved. Get your name out there. This will bring you targeted traffic. Success in internet marketing requires 3 things. 1) Driving Traffic 2) Building Your List 3) Testing Your Conversion Ratio. If you can master those 3 simple things, you WILL be successful.

Thanks for the exact advice. I want to add a small thing here. Before going for forum commenting, one has to ensure that his blog/site has enough number of posts of better quality. The "list magnet" should be something people will desire.

About "content writing" I must say that sooner or later one has to learn this. If you don't intend to write your own content, then at least you must learn to evaluate the quality of content you received from your ghost writer.

This is well put and exactly right.

I think any one can learn to create content, it just takes practice and study. Study copy writing while your at it and you will learn to sell through your content.

    Hi,
My greatest struggle is choosing a niche with the many available keyword tools. Though , I've tried PPC/CPA and affiliate mktg, I think driving traffic is my greatest challenge! Setting goals and following up on my goals is my current priority. Thank you all Bob

As a newbie, I would have to say that the 'techie' part of marketing gives me the most headaches. Squeeze pages, html, wordpress, graphics, web design to name a few.

the techie side of things is going to depend on what your doing, there are many free or paid services available

if your looking to build a squeeze page ( which i have not done ) , ive seen optimize press recommended, there may be a free version some where, not sure

for wordpress, its normally a free install from your host provider, you can use free wordpress themes and customize it ( check out youtube or search the forum for help on what you want to do ) or you can go the paid route with a theme, check out theme forrest, elegant themes, woo themes, etc ..

its not as overwhelming as you may think, pick a direction on how you want to monetize, be it squeeze page etc and move forward

I'm a web-designer, my strengths being front-end design through to building the xhtml/html5.

I've partnered with a brilliant php developer and a top SEO/Google adwords account manager who deals with accounts where he's in charge of managing adwords accounts worth tens of thousands of pounds each month.

We all play to our strengths and we're happy to put in the hours together and reap the rewards together. I know damn well I couldn't do this without the other two and a third of what I'll make with them will be a hell of alot more than 100% of what I could make on my own.

Recognise your strengths and partner with people who you trust and whose skill sets are outside of your own.
