Single vs double for my niche?

Niche is dating,I read many times that decision of single vs double optin depends on your niche to some extent.

Now couple of questions:

Does aweber have some facility where I can *mass delete* Tons of subscribers that haven't opened any of my emails since past 2-3 months or similar?

Also,if say many of my subscribers through single optin dont open my emails or click stuffs...does aweber completely disable single optins for my account?

Now on to people saying single optins give spam complaints:

How completely true is this? :p

In my opinion, you should go for single opt in, unless you are in a really specific niche, or sub niche where the leads are very specific and not accustomed to internet marketing tactics.

Aweber does allow you to search out and mass delete subscribers based on various criteria, including no-opens after a specified time. As far as I know, you will not be banned for lots of no-opens. You will get into trouble for lots of spam complaints, but in my experience, as long as you are marketing quality products in an ethical way, then single opt in subscribers are not likely to cause you any problems.

I agree completely with Gary (who grabbed my attention as always).

I've never done anything in any "dating" niche, but rightly or wrongly I wouldn't be using opt-in confirmation for it, if I did.

No; I'm sure this is right. Only for "active complaints"/"spam reports".

In my experience of such discussions, some of the arguments adduced in favor of opt-in confirmation (not that there are any, yet, in this thread, but there may be later) leave a little to be desired on the logical front. Just my skepchick perspective.

i currently use single opt in and have no intention of changing it any time soon

the main reason why i use single opt in is because i use a lot of one time offers in my campaigns and single opt in is vital for my funnel to work and be very profitable

the same method works in any niche not just IM

as long as your doing everything above board and your not just spamming your subscribers when they get on your list then you should never get any problems or complaints

ive been using single opt in for nearly a year now in most of my campaigns and i have never had a complaint

    I agree with the others.

Single opt-in is the way to go. Why give away 30% of your leads just because an autoresponder company says so.

Business is hard enough as it is without adding 30% to your traffic generation costs, right off the bat.
