I have a spam link next to my blog banner. How can I remove it?

Hi, so here's the problem. I have a link that someone has been able to stick onto my wordpress.org blog. It's right next to my header banner.

I tried going to the edit for my theme, but couldn't find such a link in the header. I don't know what else to do Can anyone help?

The words on the link say "cheap Antibiotics" It is clickable and goes to a page advertising cheap antibiotics. My blog has absolutely nothing to do with that product or subject. I have made a screen shot of it, but I see I can't upload that screenshot, so you'll just have to imagine it.

It's an old blog that I haven't used in a long time, but am now revitalizing it.

I'm searched this forum, but can't find anything that deals with this particular type of guerrilla warfare.

    Hey Gloria,

Seems like your site is hacked. Try contacting your Website administrator or your website hosting company.

They should be able to help you out.

Also try right clicking on your site and click on view page source, do a Ctrl F and paste the spam link. Search the link on the page and delete it manually. This would be a bit tricky so i would recommend the first option.

    Regards,
    Jen

If it's hosted at wordpress.org, it probably has been hacked.. So I would start off by changing your password.

To find and remove the link you'll probably have to go into the code. Go into the theme's appearance and go into each of the design files 1 at a time. Use CNTRL+F (your browser's find function) and search for the URL that the link is pointing to. This should allow you to find it and remove it.

NOTE: Make backups of the raw code for any file you mess with. That way you have something to fall back on if you mess up your website some how.

I would start by changing the theme - change to 2010. If that cures the problem, then see if you can find another theme that has the look that you want.

If the link is still there, then try contacting your host.
