[WOW] Warrior Forum is bigger than Google China

Congratulations to all fellow Warriors...

I just realized that, as per Alexa, the traffic rank of Warrior Forum (144) is well ahead of that of Google China (159).

If you consider that the number of Internet users in China is significantly higher than the entire USA population then you may be able to gasp the sheer mindblowing volume this indicates.

Granted that Baidu is bigger that Google in China, but so what, Google is Google is Google...

Heartiest congratulations to Allen, moderators (Paul et. al.) and all other great members of this forum.

The Alexa rank could be skewed based on the people who install the toolbar. It doesn't necessarily mean that WF is getting more traffic than Google China. Though it is a possibility

Why is that surprising if they have their own search engine and google had some issues with the Chinese government a year or so ago, when they wanted to exit the country. Of course it is great, but I think this is a prety bad comparison

Super cool! Thanks for sharing. I do agree Alexa is not a completely accurate assessment of traffic but what the heck....the yardstick is the yardstick. Oops sorry metric friends - the metric stick is the metric stick....

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

Sorry to break it you, buddy. But Alexa can be FAKED. There are even services being offered that do that. I am not saying WaFo fakes its Alexa rankings but people placing too much reliance on Alexa as a traffic gauge may not be relying on something objectively accurate. Try Comscore or some other service.

I can't imagine why Allen would bother faking rankings. That wouldn't help anything in a useful way, and it would just add load to the servers.

That said, you make an excellent point. Unless you really know what the data means and how it's collected, it's usually a good plan to ignore it. Sometimes even when you know, it has nothing to do with what you're after.

Alexa ranking does not have much effect on the Asian market. It applies more to US or EU websites. Plus Baidu, the main Chinese search engine has an Alexa ranking of 5.

Don't know - Google page source (HTML etc) is usually complicted so viewing HTML source normally does not tell me much - but this seems to be an equivalent of an iframe...

Nevertheless, in spite of everything, I felt I had to share this. Some things are worth sharing just to get the joy of it (at least, that's the way I lead and enjoy my life), and since I am way "closer at heart" to WF compared to Google I wanted to share it with joy !!

EDIT: Further, obviously I know Baidu is well-used in China and I did mention that. And I am also in the school of thought, as of today, that Alexa is not always accurate. But at the sme time, Alexa does have a degree of accuracy at a ballpark level, and it is great (at least to my eyes) to see this stat at that level.
