My blog and its direction

I would like your opinions, if possible. I'm on the fence with this and I'd really like to make a decision. Being on the fence is an ugly place to be, lol.

I've started up a blog which uses my name as the domain. The blog focuses mainly on personal development. The thing is, what I blog about is what I am learning and applying currently in my life. I had decided that I am going to focus on self improvement, fitness and relationships. Which basically are the three areas that I am focusing on in my life.

My issue is that I recently moved downtown in my city, Montreal. I walk daily as part of my overall exercise routine and along my walks I take pictures. Montreal is an old city with wonderful buildings dating back to the 17th century.

My dilemma is if I should include these pictures as part of daily blog entries. I see this as being off topic from the theme of the site which is personal development. But, the website does use my name, so it's kinda like including more of what I do.

What do you think? Should I include these pictures in the blog?

    Some ideas:

    - Put them in the sidebar.

    - Do a weekly "My Week in Pictures" post.

    - Post a link to your Instagram ect...

    - Use them for your thumbnails.

Definately - I agree with Greedy.

Instagram and Pinterest would work great for this. Especially if you "theme" the pics somehow - woodland, riverwalks, citywalks, etc etc..... Build up a fanbase and then you should get some good traffic.....

You could just have a catagory in your blog "Walks with Pics" or something.....

Great! I guess you both agree that I should use them on the current blog? I was considering starting up a new blog, but would much prefer posting focusing on one blog.

I'd go against the other two and say not to include them on your blog if they don't have anything to do with the content that you are posting. All you're going to do is muddle the message, and if your intent is to monetize this site you could be setting yourself up for an epic failure.

Start a personal blog for that kind of stuff.

At least include some stuff in about yourself. It makes you personable.

I've decided to leave the images out unless they are relevant to the main topic. I will probably start a new blog just for that.

Thank you all for the replies.

I would use something like Instagram which has a huge network of photo enthusiats ready and waiting to share your pictures with others and then find some way to embed an Instagram stream into your site possibly in the sidebar ^^

Gotta be careful with that though. Using pictures that you don't own the rights to can be very risky.

        The OP specifically stated-

I walk daily as part of my overall exercise routine and along my walks I take pictures.

Exactly! The pictures are all taken from my walks. I've attached two images to show the type of images they are. One is a picture of the city from Mount Royal. We call it "The Mountain" in Montreal, but it's really just a big hill.

The other is of gargoyles. There are a few buildings left with gargoyles in the city. I plan on finding them and taking pictures.

Most of the pictures are taken with my BlackBerry since I also use it to listen to music and tweet and post to Facebook as I walk. They're not the highest of quality, but decent enough to post. I like staying "connected". It makes the whole experience so much more fun, lol.

You could do like Pat Flynn's does...

On the blog (and on the list) it's pretty much all business, but on his facebook page he posts lots of pics of his son and interacts with the viewers on a more personal level.

This is what I would do.

              Sounds like an interesting idea.

Stuff like that can work, especially if it succeeds in bringing more people BACK to your site. We always love pretty pictures, it also adds some variety to your site, not just walls of text, etc.
