Default Newb needs help with Paypal payment workflow

Hello all ... hope you can advise some cost free tips ... until a few more sales are made at least or the next paycycle ... these 4 kids are hungry lil' suckers!!! :-)

I have a new product [digital] - a specific Non IM report for the Ins Industry I wrote out of being asked about how to do it over and over again in on / offline forums.

3 months ago when I started checking back in to the warrior forum after lurking years ago [ never trying anything thing really just reading till eyeballs bled ] I never imagined developing my on Digital Products - kinda funny.

Anyways .. the report. Its info that is exclusive by geo code in the US. I need to approve the potential buyers by ZIP CODE, and make sure they are an actual Insurance Agency before sending them the product [via email] . I dont see a MAD RUSH on demand where 1,000's ... at this time anyway ... will simultaneously sign up to get it. I wish ...

I also allow early adopters to BLOCK out 3 of their local competitors from getting their hands on the report So I need to approve the buyers first. Weird kinda take away - you must qualify kinda thing - but it is applicable. Its a $97 report. Kinda spendy from an IM perspective but not for the niche.

I want to add them to my list [jvlistpro], and then have them land on a page [wordpress blog site] that has the Paypal payment. Im not sure how to create the Paypal landing page - there needs to be a better way than a straight up html page with a buy it now buttonright? It seems like an unneeded extra step.

I know the buy / pay flow is sub optimal at this moment - I will upgrade the process and the minisite after about 10 sales - I just need a decent way to get past this first phase. I need ot get something up quickly as I just had one of my articles approved and have a few more pending.

For you experienced folks ... how would you cobble this together from here within the FREE or < $25 cost parameters

AND /OR

If cost was of no object... best case scenerio how would your flow go to get them both on your list and checkout. Bear in mind I need to review ...

Co Name
Mailing
City State Zip

Before the document goes out.

If seeing hte landing page / sales letter helps you to advise. PM and I'll send a link.

TIA for your assistance.

Steve

4more,
I have an idea how you can implement your system with minimal pain and no cost.

On your landing page do not have a paypal button - you're not in a position to sell at this point anyway so why make them apprehensive about you asking for a sale.
Put a name squeeze area - so they leave you their zip, name and email.

The first msg in your series should then be directing them to a page where you explain that in order to purchase they must be an existing company - you then ask them for their company name (you can do this in dream weaver REALLY easily) - you should also capture their email address again (so you have something to match up to).

You should also explain why you want the info and the fact that the first few people who purchase will be able to specify people who WONT be able to purchase.

Once you have checked them out you can send them a manual mail which contains a link to a payment page (page says 'congrats' and shows a paypal buy it now button).
You should also ask them for companies to exclude at this point.

this is where it can really work for you -
when they pay great, make a note of the exclusions.
If they demand a refund or don't actually pay then you have a list of three of their competitors that you can cold call (making sure you explain that their competitor has tried screwing them).

Does that make sense?
it adds some manual steps but it costs you nothing in cash.

Hope that helps,
Paul.

Gracias! ...

What Im doing is close to that ... my tendancy is to Get the $$$ as a commitment before I spend time researching their viability as buyer?

Kinda wanted smooth process as possible to get them on the list and next get the $ as a committment they are ready to move forward if they qualify - creating a little urgency to lock out a competitor.

But I like your idea of them contacting their competitors if they bail out.
