Hi Warriors. Maybe offtopic, but maybe theres greater response in this forum. Does anybody know how to get a refund without the usual dispute/claim route??

Thanks

    Ask the seller directly?

Otherwise its all done with claims / disputes, at least from my own experience.

Leads me to believe that they think they will win a dispute against you. What are you trying to get refunded (without going into specific names/products/services), and how did the situation come about?

If seller willing to refund then ask about it, if he/she ignores and you are at green side then paypal will surely support you in your dispute against seller

The seller is a fool for asking you to go through Paypal. They should be issuing the refund to you without getting Paypal involved. That is provided you are adhering to their refund policy -- if not, then I guess that's why they have told you to go directly to Paypal -- because they have every intention of disputing your refund.

As on eBay, ClickBank... contact the seller directly. This is normal procedure. Usually you should contact the merchant first and only open a case if/when merchant isn't collaborating.

Personally I had a negative experience with a selling platform, as they didn't resolve my case in time and I never got my refund! Seller was literally left to take my money away without giving me their product... weird...

File a chargeback with your credit/debit card company/bank

I got ripped off for a domain, Paypal settled in favour of the seller (who they admitted were investigating for fraud) so I ended up out of pocket and with no domain.

I had paid with a visa debit card (not credit) so thought I wouldn't be able to do any kind of chargeback but after calling the bank they sorted it for me and the money was refunded to my card shortly afterwards.

    Take that paypal

This is a great plan, if you want to forego the ability to ever accept PayPal in any business venture you lead for the rest of your life. Charging back PayPal threatens their business and they can and will ban you forever for it.

With a quarter billion active users, they're not going to be going away any time soon, so it might be best not to burn that bridge over a few bucks some 3rd party wouldn't refund you.

If the seller is telling you to go directly to PayPal, they are probably intending to fight or ignore it. Either way, if they have no stated refund policy and it's a digital product, you would lose.
(assuming you did not use a CC )...what is the seller's published refund policy?

If the seller refuses to offer you a refund, then you should contact paypal and also exlplain to them that your seller is trying dodge your refund. However you should have a good reason for asking for refund in the first place.

You'll have to contact the seller directly or call PayPal but they'll more than likely tell you the same thing.

If this is a dispute concerning a virtual item, I'm afraid you're out of luck. Unless you have an outstanding account and the buyer has a shady account, they don't cover virtual items such as content, e-books, etc.

Theres a few things that could be going on with this transaction.

My advice is to open the dispute immediately. It will be the safest route to protect both you and the seller

Were there any conditions for a refund in the sales page?
Was this for for an ebay item? Or, a wso or other IM software?
    a physical or virtual good?

Try to settle it with the seller. If however he is not cooperating, open a dispute against him within Paypal. Make sure you have valid reasons why you want a refund as Paypal does not offer buyer or seller protection on digital goods (I'm assuming its a digital product). All the best!
