Monetize your passions.

Have you already monetized your passions? Are you trying to? What are your passions? I think that these are good questions.

Good post and very important. If I would only go ahead and do it now.
I always choose everything other than my passion to make money with and I eventually get bored, tired, and sick of doing it.

What are your passions? I think by using your passions then you can avoid becoming bored!

My biggest passion is fitness. I am a gym rat, work out 5 days a week, am 6'3 235 5% bodyfat. Ive trained trainers on how to get results. I have people coming up to me all the time wanting me to work with them.

I love it. I love seeing people transform. I worry that making about money will ruin it though. Its kind of my escape.

You can either directly monetize your passion (Ex a hobby, travel, food, etc...) or you can USE your passion as part of your business to help earn a profit.

For example, you may love to write...so you put that writing to good use in developing your own ebooks, ghostwriting, publishing a money making blog, etc...

You may not directly write about writing...but you use your passion for writing to help you make money in your venture - make sense?

This is where many people get confused, they think if they can't make money directly with a talent or skill they have, it isn't worth it when really what you want to do is put yourself in a business where you can USE that talent or skill that you love to work each day.

Let's say you had a passion to play the guitar, but you don't want to (or haven't been able to) make it big playing...that doesn't mean you can't start an amazing guitar teaching or training business by video taping several sessions...that way you get to use your passion and form a business.

I've been fortunate enough to build my business entirely around a service (writing), and niches (Disney I can openly admit and the others are under pen names) that have either been lifelong interests or something that I always wanted to learn but put off previously.

I attribute all of my success to it, as trying to "make it" with other stuff like IM (not qualified to teach), Weight Loss (my metabolism makes the niche irrelevant to me), and Dating (I'm Joseph Robinson, the women come to me :p) would surely lead to boredom and failure for me.

lol ... I was thinking about this very topic the other day. I live out in the country so we have some odd hobbies ... like raising chickens and going to chicken swaps. There are people who show chickens and breed show quality chickens.

Did you know that people pay anywhere from $100-$300 for certain rare breed show/breeder quality chickens?

Did you know that a dozen fertile eggs from the same type of chickens can fetch $100-$125?

Obviously, this niche is not for everyone. You have to have property and kind of like chickens, which I do, so I'm not afraid of too many people stealing my niche. lol

Do not get to focused on
    passions that are not in
    demand

    Or focused on giving away
    what your passionate about,
    logically thinking this is what
    my market wants to hear

because there will be no money
at the end of it and you will beat
    yourself up about pursuing something
    that brings in no money

what ever your passionate about -
find at least 10 things people need
in that market and put the content
    out and then market it

I believe that it is very important, especially for newbies to focus on monetizing their passions because that way, when the going gets tough, they will be more likely to stick it out. That being said, I advise intermediate and advanced marketers to NOT focus on monetizing their passions. Focus on solving problems and offering solutions. That is how you make money online.

Still trying to monetize my basketball services. My old high school coach got fired... and considering what i've achieved (in basketball) at my school... i think i would be a good candidate. But we'll see.

I was doing other things in the big ol' IM world to challenge myself, and get myself out of my normal niche. I found that I was struggling mightily...until I realise that what I should have been working on was literally under my nose. It was the thing that I was already spending a good amount of time on, that I already had online connections, and that I could apply the vast amount of knowledge/experience into a site that has (finally) started making me money! Of course, I had to tweak this niche to make it more challenging for me...

Follow your passions...that's the only way that you'll be able to make it through the tough times.

Nice. That seems like a great idea! Go for it!

I completely agree, but you can also profit from authority sites that you have no passion for and still turn a profit.

I make steady profit in the baby shower market. sure I had to learn a bunch of things I wasnt interested in (like diaper cakes and favors) but at the end of the day my mail box lets me know it wasnt all in vain.

now im gonna build sites that i have passion for; IM and Fitness . wish me luck!

yeah i know what you mean, I had a site on Yarn once, I have no idea why I registered the .info domain back 4-5 few years ago? it was making me hundreds a month from nothing, with a couple of affiliate products. it slowely dribbled down to making me nothing. I only spent 1 hour on making the site and never updated it. I finally dropped it this year
