Anybody had success getting a domain the owner REFUSED to sell?

Help me out here.

I have a domain I've like to secure, own the trademark and building up a whole business behind it, but the owner said they won't sell it unless it is a big newspaper firm.

They are just squatting on it with nothing on it.

Anybody had success securing a domain from someone who've refused to sell?

Personally I wouldn't bother to persevere with it. I'd register a similar name. It might not be perfect, but you might wait forever to get the one you want and still not get it or be able to afford it because the owner knows how much you want it.

Sitting on a domain name is not illegal, registering a domain name that is someone elses trademark could be.

I go to Domain Name Generator and have some fun and find a good name. It's amazing what names you can come up with that aren't yet registered.

Good luck in getting the names you want.

Is there anyway you can "change up" the domain name and still make it relevant to your business?

Maybe they are waiting for the offer they cant refuse. Do they know that you own trademark and that you are building the whole business beghing it?
Maybe you appoached to them as obvious end-user and they are aware that you have TM so they are not allowed to ask money, but waiting for your high offer.

The more you need it, the longer the seller will hold out to get the best price.

I agree with the other comments....pick a domain that's similar and will still work for you....perhaps you could simply add a hyphen.

    Good Luck.

They don't want to sell to you - so that's the end of it. It doesn't matter what they are doing or not doing with the domain - they have it registered.

Forget that one - and find another good name.

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.
