Is Internet Marketing a Proper Business?
After been around in the 'Internet Marketing' space for over ten years now it never ceases to amaze me the amount of people that get into this space hoping to make it rich then disappear despondent after 'trying' a few things, not making any money then giving up.
Internet Marketing is in reality just a tool for growing your own or your client's actual business and not the business itself.
Like any business you have to question why you are doing it, for most it's just a lifestyle business (just to make a living) but for those who are serious it's a way of building income producing assets (web assets) that can be sold when it's time to cash in.
Web assets are very similar to property assets, the domain name is the land and the website is the property that sits on it. The more income that property (website) makes the more its worth.
I see building assets as one of the most important aspects of any business, when I started out all my focus was on building my name as a brand, sure it worked to generate an income but it was an asset that would be impossible to sell at a later date if the name (me) had disappeared.
I would also drive traffic to other people's site using affiliate links, great, made some good money but again no asset to sell on.
Asset building is very much a process, get a great domain name (Yes there still are millions about), create or find a great product with longevity (better to have income long term) and drive traffic to it.
It's as simple as that!
One asset I built in the 'payday loans' niche still brings me in around $50 a week, may not seem a lot but it's worth around $15,000 as a very saleable asset!
Imagine having hundreds of these? Makes for a nice retirement!
The moral of the story is own your own assets don't give them away
