A lot of us were worried about the introduction of a law that meant a user had to accept to have cookies stored on their pc when they visited your site before you used them.

Majority of sites attempting to comply now are trying to get round this by just flashing up a warning saying "we use cookies" when someone first hits the site.

It looks like this law is pretty useless and wont have much impact unless the government decide to try enforcing it which now seems unlikely. So I think for now panic is over and carry on using affiliate cookies as you were but add a lengthy cookie policy on your site to make it look like you are trying to comply lol.
