Has anyone used this kind of software? Basically using a mic and talking, the program learns your voice and types it for you.

Just curious. Saw it online the other day.

yeah, Dragon Naturally Speaking is pretty good. I actually type faster than it converts tho, so I don't use it.

I have Dragon - but I really don't use it much ('cause I type just under 100 wpm). The training curve takes time (which I don't have) and the text usually requires quite a bit of "fixing." If she can't type, though, it's probably better than getting frustrated with the keyboard.

If Dragon's too pricey for you - see if any of the phone apps can be used on your computer. I use the voice-to-text converter that came with my Samsung Android all the time for sending text messages and I love it.

I use Dragon sometimes. I bought it because I have severe pain in my neck due to nerve damage and so if I want to work but not type as much, I use that program and my headset.
The upside is that I can "write" a 500 word article in 10 mins.
The downside is that it needs more editing than if I physically typed it as I went along.

If you mean Dragon - wait till December. Seems to always be a great sale then - usually 50-75% off.

You might want to look at this open source software:
    simon listens: Home

It's designed for "physically disabled" people (their phrasing) but should
serve anyone who is looking for a free solution.
