Is Twitter marketing a fad, or is it here to stay? If it is here to stay, how can businesses utilize it ?

If Google ever manages to talk Twitter into selling, it will certainly be around for the long haul!

Whether it's a fad or not, it's something you should probably be doing if you want to market socially. I would recommend starting off with a nice blog and simply tweeting about each new blog post you make. This is a great way to start building up a following of people interested in your market. This infographic explains it all graphically.

    Bulid an account.

Target people using relevent keywords and follow.

Add value by linking to useful content.

Insert one or two links to promotions each day and append "sp" to the end so they know it's a sponsored link.

Also, put a link to your site in the bio.

With the advent of various tools and online dashboards, there seems to be a lot of people tweeting (talking) but not many people reading (listening). It seems to have become a one way conversation with people thinking they are getting traction because they are gaining followers (using the automatic elements of the tools) and because they are sending lots of tweets. But is anyone still reading? I'm not so sure....

A great way to use twitter is to attend things related to whats happening on twitter. You will have a twitter conversation happen once a week that you have something related to, and you can find the niche targeted customers when attending those chats. For example; #SquidooTalk is a popular twitter conversation that happens every thursday. People attend them to gain help! and advice! Find a twitter conversation that is related to your niche and start talking about it!

Twitter is still good. If you write for EZA or your blog, have your content automatically sent to your twitter page for your followers to see.

Twitter marketing is not that easy, imagine twitter as a passing cars, tweets are like that, the twitter world is crowded that's why you have to be more creative in twitting and following people so that they can notice your business.

I'd go further than just tweeting about a post.
I'd create 4 of 5 tweets about each post, each worded differently. During the course of the week I'd tweet each of them daily at different times,
    Mon: 10am Tweet 1, 12pm Tweet 2, 3pm Tweet 3, 5pm Tweet 4, 8pm Tweet 5
Then change it the next day
    Tues: 10am Tweet 5, 12pm Tweet 1, 3pm Tweet 2, 5pm Tweet 3, 8pm Tweet 4
and look to see which tweet gets the most / best feedback.

Mention people in your posts even those who barely have followers of their own. It's a surefire way to get attention of somebody and a discussion starter.
