was your Hotmail account hacked?

Last night at about 4am my Hotmail account was hacked & a ton of spam email was sent out to my entire contact list. My personal signature was also erased & some of my settings were changed.

I've emailed Hotmail about it- but that seems like a long shot to get any help from them.

According to the Hotmail help site, several other people had the same issues with similar emails going out.

I changed my password/login, but am wondering if I need to cancel the account- or if changing my password should be enough.

    I feel your pain. I haven't had my Hotmail hacked but I've had my Gmail hacked.

    I didn't bother canceling my account, that was over year or so ago.

    Probebly some type of new exploit for hotmail going around.
    I can't see someone trying to brute force (dictionairy word attack) your email out of the blue.
    Hotmail probebly patched it by now, don't worry.
