Just tried the new Clickbank HopAd Builder and got a sale almost straight away.

We have see a lot of negatives re Clickbank however I have been with them for years now and they have always done the right thing by me.

I just added their new HopAd to my Photoshop site and got a sale nearly straight away. Now I am not saying this will be the case always but I was pretty chuffed.

I changed my adsense to clickbank as I figured I would rather get $20 or $30 a click through rather than a few cents.

Here is how they look on my sites.

Photoshop Tutorials

Also for those who have been there before I also added a new Artisteer theme and video.

What do you think?

      Hi Quentin,

Look good and I like the layout.

When I attempted to close the page a pop-up appeared but I don't think
it was what you planed it to be. Below is a image of the pop up.

Dude, I must have been living under a rock, because I didn't know about the CB HopAd builder. This owns. I'm probably never going to use Adsense again.

Thanks for helping me pull my head out of my ass!

I second that. How did I miss this? So, it basically looks like Google Adsense, but has Clickbank products, and you get the entire commission as usual? That's rocks!

I gotta go find out more about it right now.

I ended up removing these ads from my sites. They just didn't perform as well as I'd hoped. I averaged $20 per week in sales (just from these ads, not counting other promotions), but Adsense pulls more than that. I think part of the problem may be that many of the ads are not pointing straight at a sales page or product website but a squeeze page. My affiliate link may or may not be making the journey to the promotions sent out to that mailing list. Not accusing anyone of anything because I didn't bother testing it. Just saying the ads didn't do so well for me so I nixed them!

Let's get updates from others who tried them - any good results?

P.S. Maybe my niche wasn't the best either, I tried these mostly on self-help sites with good established organic traffic.

Talk about living under a rock - I never noticed the HopAd builder before.

It's way cool and easy to add to dynamic sites, be interesting to see how it performs vs Adsense...

I have an adsense site that makes me about $100-$150 a month...but that's because it has high paying clicks. And even then they're usually only a buck or two per click.

Clickbank products seem to pay at least $20 on up for commission in most cases - so this seems like it would have a LOT of potential!

I was going to say, why doesn't Clickbank TELL us about this stuff? LOL I'm both an affiliate and a vendor and I had no clue this existed. I've already started adding it to one of my sites and love the flexibility!

If you know HTML you can really alter it to be more customized to your site, like changing the number of ads in the column, width, height, etc.

Oh, and if anyone is wondering how to squeeze in more keywords, you can do it in the source code.

    Quentin, THANKS for mentioning this!

One of the things I like the most is they open in a new window so my page stays open.

I am not using the iframe I am using the list tags and just taking the script code and letting my theme do all the css formating etc.

If you use the adsense deluxe plugin you can enter the code the same as adsense and just paste the small string to put adds anywhere in your posts or pages etc.

Wow, those ads really do look good. I didn't know about this either.

I've been using Click-Ads on single post pages at the bottom of the post (see example here).

You're right, Clickbank should publicize these more.

I think the trouble is we all read the posts in forums about Clickbank but you should go to the source as it is well publicized on their blog, next to your stats and in the news section.

Most people who complain about clickbank are stressing over one or two sales and probably still get cheques.

Always go to the source and get their spin first.

Guilty. I don't log in to my account all that often, or even visit their site. CB isn't a huge income source for me (maybe now with these nifty new ads?? ) - I just get a direct deposit every week and check my stats maybe once a month...lol. I'm bad, I know! I'll have to get more diligent and check in more often.

STILL - you'd think they would send an email to announce something new now and then!

Well anyway, glad I learned it here.

Anyone that has decided to use the hop ads, can you please update this thread with the performance? As in, did you make any cash? I'm very curious. I've avoided clickbank up and until now, but since I found this thread I'm seriously considering it as a potential income stream.

Here is another site I just changed.

Nothing for you to buy as it is an accommodation site for Australia but you can see the adds on the right. Again I took just the script section out of the tags not the iframe option and let the theme do the formating.

    Australias Best Accommodation

You gotta admit it looks like my links and no google add plus they open in a new window.

What more could you want. Well if you got a small fee for clicking on them it would just about be perfect.

How have your sales been with clickbank compared to adsense income? I notice that you posted this several months ago and your blog still has the hoplinks so I am assuming you are still happy with the hoplinks.

Can you use clickbank and Adsense on the same site. I like the way your blog looks, very professionally done by the way. I always thought that if you can get enough clicks from Adsense to make real money.. what would clicks from clickbank at the same level provide as income.

Hmmm ... I have been using AdSense and ClickBank products links for some years now...

The last 2 weeks I have also tried out HopAds on a few of my sites. One page where I had replaced AdSense with HopAds suddenly went from a PR=4 to PR=0 But the Google traffic is still the same.

      Coincidence?

      Anybody seen anything similar?

People are now developing third party apps for this. Here is the Clickbank post.

Posted by: Kristen M., Marketing Communications Manager

Last month, we told you about HopAd Builder, our powerful new tool that affiliates can use to promote ClickBank products through targeted text ads on their sites, and get the full affiliate commission for sales made to visitors who click on the ads and buy.

The response to HopAd Builder has been great, and several third-party developers have started creating free tools that extend the functionality of HopAd Builder and make it easy to use on certain types of websites.

One example of a HopAd tool is a plugin for the popular Wordpress blogging software, called the HopAd Plugin. It is available for free at Wordpress HopAd Plugin and it allows owners of self-hosted Wordpress blogs to integrate HopAds into a blog in a simple and seamless way.

If you're a Wordpress blog owner and you'd like an easy new way to make extra affiliate commissions by displaying ads for ClickBank products related to your blog's content, be sure to check out the HopAd Plugin!

This has been posted on the news section in your clickbank account for some time
now. Maybe people need to start checking the news more often. When you login
to your account, click on the resources tab at the top, this will take you to Clickbank
News, which gave you information about the HopAd Builder back on February 11.

You can also find their newsletter archives and subscribe here:

I've not used the HopAd builder but did find this little bit of kit for blogs - you can see it here clickbank rss feed script hopRSS (not an affiliate link)

I've used this on my blog Resale Rights Explained and have had 2 sales so far. I have used them in my right hand column labelled "PLR Recommendations" "Blogging Recommendations" and "Affiliate Marketing Recommendations"

And I have to say it was soooo easy to install.

    test your niche
for example the psptubedepot in sig attracts freebie seekers. does ok with adsense (which I give away anything above hosting and domain costs to charity) even so with 40,000 or so uniques/mo still does under $100 a month in adsense.
switched everything to clickbank for a few months just to see, but as expected, zero sales due to clientele here is just looking for free graphics and is mainly comprised of teachers and hobbyists of which most have no other social outlet but a few graphic hobbyist communities.

(This was never intended to be an income site. Adsense was added as an afterthought. This site was created as backlash to an incident with a lawyer in 2004 -who has since failed miserably- but since there is a lot of school IPs visiting the site, we just leave it up. Some of the artists that contribute to the site get some paying traffic from it so it isn't a total give away, and a lot of companies have donated to charities there to procure an artist's exclusive work or non-exclusive commercial use of what is already up there.) It is mainly a 'give back to the community' type of site.

with adsense, get paid for a click, with CB they have to buy. The clientale this site attracts may be curious enough to click a link now and then, but many are in no position to buy anything. (Heck, many have a hard time fitting out the trailer door!) I should not be mean like that, many of the site's users are shut-ins and/or on SSI or SSDI. The site obviously means something to someone as enough graphics are D/Led each month to D/L the entire site 25-30 times yet the average user only D/Ls a few images per visit.

(For some reason it is centered in IE but not FF. Dunno why and haven't spent the time to figure it out as 90% of the site users use IE... older crowd I guess. Besides, still works, just not centered.)
