Is a Facebook contest on my blog okay?

INTERNET MARKETING

I know FB has rules for running promotions ON Facebook (promotion guidelines) but if I use only my blog but not Facebook to spread the word about it, am I okay? The plan is to get more FB likes and shares.

I think that should be fine as long as it's done through your blog. Never tried it though.

Your goal is to get more likes .. make sure your contest does not use the 'like' feature as the entry mechanism. This IS against FB TOS. You also cant do a comment to enter either, again this is against TOS

The promotional guidelines say that you can get someone to like a page, but you can't get someone to like a wall post or photo etc.

Hi Laura,

I always encourage my site visitors to share my posts by leaving a "Call To Action" underneath asking them to leave a comment via a FaceBook Comments Plugin I use as Wordpress plugin.

This allows me to spread my content around the F/B community and also allows me to add new subscribers to my list.

Once people are on my list, I then introduce my Fan Page to them so they can keep up to date with my latest updates etc and this builds up my likes, shares, comments also.

Hanging around and posting comments on similar Fan Pages that link back to your page also adds a steady flow of likes from visitors who are already interested in what you have to offer.

Just get involved and aim to encourage to interact with your F/B posts is going to spread your content around the F/B community and build your likes etc on a consistent basis.
