Keeping Track of Traffic

Hey all,

How do you usually keep track of your traffic sources? Is there a way to use Google Analytics to do this for me?

Currently I built a custom system to keep track of incoming data in a database. Is there anything I should definitely track? Right now I am breaking it down by the traffic source, and then type(banner, ppc, etc).

Here's the rule for tracking: You should track EVERYTHING. Traffic sources is only one variable. You also need to track clicks and conversions.

For that, I use the AdTrackzGold software which can be installed on your own server and it's pretty easy to use.

Create different squeeze pages, sales pages, autoresponders... drive traffic and see which ones pull the most response.

Google Analytic is the best tool to track traffic & user engagement on your website. You can also integrate the analytic with webmaster tool to check crawling errors.

Google Analytics remains the best tool to track visitors to your website. It covers everything, from bounce rates to conversions and traffic sources. Google's also the most trusted company on the Internet right now, so I don't trust other trackers.

The Analytics tool is also incredibly easy to use. Just paste a code to your website and it will start tracking instantly, pretty awesome if you ask me!

Thanks for the help! The help files on Google Analytics don't seem to have updated information. Are there any guides on this forum on how to use it for our type of tracking?
