Well, my local neighborhood is flood with Instagram user, they basically photo everything they think good, add some old atmosphere, then post it online. This popular culture spread among teenager and college student. Strike while the iron is hot, gentleman!

It's definitely going to be big! Specially now that a lot of mobile users are using Iphones and Androids.

Another tip is to watermark your pictures with your web adress since you cannot put live links together with your post.

That is the coolest thing I've heard all week!

I had no idea you could use a photo site to generate traffic. Makes me wonder if it wouldn't be a good idea to look for an use other photo sharing sites in the same way.

Even if this doesn't generate any sales it's probably an excellent way to improve your site's authority which can then lead to more consistent SEO traffic.

I've had several websites where I'd receive more traffic (and sales) because of images than I did the posts themselves!

People use Google Images (and Instagram too I'm sure) all the time to look for stuff. If you tagged your images right... you'll get good traffic.

**HINT** I was promoting tattoo Clickbank products... people like looking at images of different tattoos to get ideas :p

Social Media traffic is often overlooked by a lot of marketers. You treat it as a list of subscribers then converting them into leads by directing them to your squeeze page. Once they opt it then you have your chance to sell them something.

Did you notice the changes that Facebook did with their mobile app? They made the pictures larger since a lot of mobile users are more likely to share or like a photo compared to reading a text.

Another tip that I use to gain more followers is to integrate twitter and facebook together with your instagram. I often share my pictures to my facebook page and twitter, which leads to more users finding me.

Another one is to comment on popular photos. Go to "EXPLORE" and check the famous photos of the day and leave a nice comment in there. Remember not to look spammy.

Thanks for the post! Surely there is a lot potential in image sharing sites like instagram and pinterest. Like in other social media sites you need to engage with others (as you said make some likes, comments and hashtags). The amount of traffic you can get correlates with your follower base and how much they resubmit your staff.

Yes, I've recently noticed that random people following me on Instagram, liking my photos.

The most interesting part is that, their user name is something like this -- "_LOSE_WEIGHT_NOW_", and it's obvious they are trying to grab your attention, and redirect you to their website.

Whoever thought of this is smart, but remember to approach smarter, like a more professional username, and profile photo.

what do you instagram users think of instagram vs pinterest for traffic generation, since there are many similarities between the two sites? I've generated minimal amounts of traffic via pinterest but it hasn't converted well (yet). I have yet to try instagram.
