A little help with my site...?

Hi, I've been working on a WordPress site for about a month now, and it's starting to look okay. But I'd appreciate your critiques and recommendations.

In particular, I don't have much traffic coming yet. So what's your best tip to get this rolling?

Also, in Reading Settings, I selected For each article in a feed, show: Summary, but the entire posts show up in the blog section. How do I get just the first few paragraphs of each post to show.

Your help is much appreciated.

(And BTW, how do you "thank" someone? I clicked a Thank button in another thread, but it didn't seem to do anything...)

The site is looking pretty decent so far, just keep it up. As far as getting the ball rolling on it, the best thing to do is keep adding content to it. I'd also recommend getting involved in some communities related to your niche, maybe some cooking communities or health related since coconut oil is good for you.

I think the summary sometimes doesn't work based on the theme but I noticed you're using the default twentyeleven theme so I'm actually surprised it's not working for you. You can try switching to a theme like Weaver II which has a lot more options and it looks similar to the theme you're using now.

I believe you need a certain amount of posts (maybe 10) before you can thank someone.

Hi CocoBee, Back-Links are the key to a successful website after the Penguin update early last year. The more back-links, the more traffic to your website. More traffic = More $$$

    Here are some Back-Linking strategies:

    1. Content Syndication
    2. Blog Commenting
    3. Sponsoring WordPress Themes
    4. Article Directories
    5. SEO
    6. Video Marketing
    7. Forum Marketing
    8. Web 2.0
    9. Ego-Bait
    10. Interviews
    11. Social Networking
    12. Fiverr Gigs
    13. Google PPC

I recommend using all the strategies listed above and your site will be absolutely KILLER. Don't fret if the traffic to your site is not reaching your expectations, many bloggers face the same problem as you and quit after only a few months. An average website takes about 3 months to 2 years to start increasing in traffic.

I've written a massive guide on Back-Linking, you might want to check that out for a more in-depth explanation on the topic. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I'll be more than happy to answer your questions.

P.S You can thank someone by clicking the "Thanks" button at the bottom right corner of their posts below their signature. If the "Thanks" is recorded by the Warrior Forum system, a small line of text will appear like " The Following Users Say Thank You To [Name of Poster] For This Useful Post.

    Much appreciated, guys!

ContentWriting360, thank you for pointing me to the <!--more--> code. That works fine, and I like the fact that I can insert the break wherever I like...

You all got a "Thanks" from me now too.

I would personally make the header graphics smaller in height and take off the writing in it to save some space. The reason I say that is because you already have text above it, which is good for your SEO keyword aspect of the page. Having it in the image wont help your on page SEO whatsoever since it doesn't read images. This would help you be able to put more stuff "above the fold" and allow more intrigue for those that want to see in a glimpse what you have to offer.

This is just me personally, but when I get to a page if all I see if a banner or image I'm not very tempted to scroll down. Most of the time I actually back out of the site and click the next site in the list on google. Wether its #1 or #100 position. So for those folks that are like me, and I'm sure there's quite a few this might help to show them a post or two of what you are all about! Hope it helps! The site looks great otherwise keep up the good work!

Good comment about the header... in fact, I was thinking about that too.

I'll try to modify it tomorrow. Thanks!
