Selling clothes a good niche? Some questions

I have a few types of clothing line affiliates that I want to use, but is it a wise choice to get into doing that? Is there some better way of selling affiliate clothing without them having to be redirected to to their site or is that just something I'm going to have to deal with. I feel that people would get turned off by that quickly.

  • Unless you're able to get them to dropship or you're willing to purchase the clothing and store them on site in your home you might be out of luck. I would suggest contacting them about the dropshipping option, you may be surprised that they say yes. Also look into Alibaba, I know they supply lots of products you can use for ecommerce sites and you may be able to find clothing suppliers there too. Good luck

Thanks, do you know if selling an affiliate clothing line would be profitable or are most people just turned off by buying clothes through affiliate links.

What kinds of clothing? and to which target demographic are you trying to target (e.g. men? women? kids? or all?)?

I know that generally speaking women's clothing can be very profitable, and affiliate links shouldn't matter to the site visitor if your site is clean, easy to use, and doesn't look spammy.

Careful with Alibaba, you will get lots of spam and probably viruses.

  • Hey chilldy,

It may be worth having a chat with some of the affiliate networks.

I know of a fragrance company that provide a white label site so the client never actually leaves the affiliates site but all the processing and back end work is done by the fragrance company.

Come to think of it, that's how most travel affiliate sites work too.

You may be able to find something by searching "white label clothing affiliates" or "clothing affiliate schemes".

Definitely speak to the affiliate account manager though, they'll know best.

  • I would say you'll have a good chance with selling things like custom made t-shirts through affiliate links. What's nice is that some companies will allow you to design your own shirts and sell them through their site making your company seem a bit more legit. Some sites even offer to let you build a store through their site so it doesn't look like an affiliate offer per say.

Well since I'm in the gaming niche and I have a pretty nice sized community. I'm just looking at selling gamer clothing from places like J!NX, Thinkgeek, not sure of other places.

This is a niche that could do very well offline.

    Hi chilldy,

I will follow this thread as I have also planned to start an online clothing selling business (via Facebook). My target is our local market. Someone recommended me this site but they only sell bulk orders which is too far from my budget.

Look at Tommy Hilfiger. Some individuals can earn LOTS of money in the clothing niche. I think it is all about how you go about it.
