Greetings all,

I'll assume that most if not all of us here understand the importance of a system. In fact, it's systems that work for us that earn us income pretty much. I would like to know what comes to mind when you think of a SYSTEM. What should a system consist of that will produce results and earn money?

  Well, this week all I can think of is CashMaps...but that's probably because of all the emails in my inbox about it being the "ultimate system".
  
  I don't know...when I think of the word "System", I simply think of a series of steps that can be repeated over & over again to achieve the same result.

  My system is just trying to stay consistent.
  Write everything you want to accomplish down, it makes things more clear somehow.
  My goal now is to have a $500.000 a month online business next year via ppc and cpa, I write all of that down.
  
  It seems almost impossible in your brain but once you break it down, it gets easier to swallow.

While we all come across our own ways of making money, a good system is one you can give to someone else and have them produce consistent, repeatable, successful results. Once you get to that point you can either sell the system or outsource everything

A system can be duplicated
A system can be implimented and operated by anyone with the necessary training
A system stands independent of the personalities involved
A system is a production line

  Pretty much.
  
  However,creating a system may not be. Not every method can be systemised which is why a lot of the stuff out there works for the originator and not for many others.

  IMHO
  A system isn't just about making money, i.e. When I get up in the morning I have a series of things I do, such as get dressed, have breakfast, then I jump in car/get train etc and finally get to work. This is a system carried out by millions of people everyday with the same desired outcome - get to work on time in safety (maybe not so desirable to get to work!)
  
  MacDonalds, for example, have a system for identifying locations for new outlets, then they have a system for getting the right owner/staff in these outlets, then they have a system for buying supplies, selling food, etc.
  
  in short it's a series of steps (a process) leading to a desired/expected outcome; the steps can be repeated and they should be capable of being carried out by anyone (within reason) just by following the procedure. If the system does not produce the desired outcome (negative or positive) then it's not the system for you; so you tweak it/ refine it/abandon it until you have a process producing the desired outcome.
  
  Some systems are easy, some complicated but they are all repeatable otherwise it's not a system. Most business failures are due to lack of good systems, adopting the wrong system to start with or the inability to follow the systems in place. Good systems make processes easy to understand and work with and they usually produce good results.

  When I think of systems, McDonald's comes to my mind. No matter who makes the burger, by following a system, anyone just makes the same burger.
  
  Another person comes to my mind is Michael Gerber. He wrote The E-Myth book. If you want to find out more about systems and how to create a system for yor business, get the book. Basically, Michael teaches entrepreneurs on how to create a business that can be run by anyone - without the owner. Hence you work on the business, not in the business.

  What I meant was do the work once and profit over and over without putting any more significant amount of work into it.
  
  For example, one of my products I have an adwords ad running selling an ebook I wrote. It sells for $27 and orders have been coming in for months at a average cost of $4 each.
  
  For this $23 profit per book I just did the work to get the ebook written and the ad up. Now all I do is click my email button and watch the orders come in daily and my paypal grows wheter I do anything or not. Except for an occasional refund their is no work involved.
  
  So my system would be do the initial work but then make money on autopilot.
  
  It's funny because it really feels like I am getting free money. I have quite a few of these little projects set up on autopilot. And all the work I did to get them up is long in the past.
  
  Now if I had to do 3 or 4 hours work to make this money, I wouldn't call it a system because I have to do work everytime I want to make money. I would call that a job.
  
  But because the system is in place now and making me money I can multiply my profit over and over.

  I would say E-Myth is essential reading. I also recommend the "theory of constraints" books by Dr Goldratt for anyone serious about systems.

  3. Designed with step by step instructions so an employee can follow the instructions and do the work without your help and input.
  
  4. Designed to be self improving. Part of those step by step instructions include reviewing the processes of the system, brainstorming and implementing ways to improve the processes in the system.
