Email Marketing ...database..Is it safe?

Hi

I have been doing affiliate marketing for quite some time.
Now I have created a product and am quite confident it will do well.
I was thinking to sell it via the email marketing route.
Now here is the confusion, I found out there are lot of companies that sell database ...is it safe? They claim it is so any ideas?

I also read about safe swaps ..which is better? Any opinion is highly appreciated

Ok, so unsolicited email is spam, and it's technically illegal. All I can say is that if you WERE going to do this, I learned a good (close to ethical as possible) "trick" from a Mixergy podcast.

You have to send your emails slowly, and the email needs to be SO DAMN USEFUL that people will love it, despite it technically being spam. You have to come up with the best darn piece of advice that you can think of and share it with the list, while then offering your link as a way to get more information about you and your company (and your product).

I'm not endorsing the idea of spam, but I will say that if someone did this to me I wouldn't be upset. Problem is most people are too lazy.

I don't know I need to hear this on the interview. I just don't see how sending them slow is going to get any better results than sending them fast. They still going to different people. PM me the link.

I would not go the email route - too risky - especially mailing to the cheap lists that are advertised everywhere online. There are a 'few' legitimate 'opt-in' email brokers around that have highly targeted lists but you will pay a much higher cost per thousand than the cheap lists you are most likely considering.

The idea someone else posted about setting up your own website, gathering your own list etc is something you should already be doing. Addtionally, Clickbank or other affiliate broker company would be the better way to go because if you have a product that sells then affiliates will flock to it to help you.

If you insist on pursuing the email route, you should visit the following CAN-SPAM FTC web page and read it thoroughly and make sure your emails are in compliance -

I would stay away from this route, there are a lot of laws in place against e-mail spammers because of how easy it is.

Plus, once someone knowledgeable finds out what you're doing, finds your affiliate ID and reports you to the affiliate company, your earnings will be held or dismissed and you will be banned.

Very few companies tolerate e-mail spamming to unsolicited e-mails.

Build the list from scratch. Since you're comfortable with affiliate marketing and the selling process... it should be no problem to get a nice list from scratch fast.

    Build you list yourself.

Not only do you have to deal with spam laws. But many time crooked marketers.

    I'll lost money myself.

My personal opinion is that you should stay away from ready and already-built mailing lists ... they usually just copy every single email address they find and most of the times they are not opt-in so you will end up with scam/spam reports and really bad campaign results .. you should create a webform or something like that to get legally the email address and then start sending and built your way up from there
