Are you into Widgets? Well you should be
They are getting far more attention than actual ad dollars. Despite this trend increase, estimates predict that only $40 million will be spent by US companies in 2008 to create, market and distribute these widgets, which is still up 266% from $15 million in 2007.
The little snippets of script are now showing their profitable faces everywhere. In May of 2007 Facebook opened up to third-party applications and since then, there have been more than 15,000 applications developed. There are now over 101,000 developers, worldwide, feverishly working on applications and widgets.
Although widgets are the latest trend and hot to trot within the Internet Marketing community, there are concerns raising.
Measurement difficulties, burn out with applications, deceptive techniques as well as distribution hurdles are challenges developers are facing as they push installation rates as well as their limits.
The numbers are out of this world. I am conducting some more research in this niche. It would be interesting to see what the next generation of Widget development will look like.
All I know is that this market is growing faster than the Jolly Green Giant did!
