Update Your Ping List (Too Many Ping List is Bad)

I've had experience with having too many ping list in one of my blogs, it ended up not being index by Google Blog Search at all and the traffic was horrible. While my other sites which I never touched the ping list (left it blank with the default single ping service from Wordpress) actually was more indexed by Google Blog Search and is getting traffic.

It appears that most ping services only accepts ping coming from pingomatic directly so having a huge list in your Wordpress will actually work against you. Here's what they recommend that you only use:

Just stick with the pingomatic one. Anything else is pointless.

Pinging anymore than that is so overrated IMO.

Yeah, because PingOMatic covers so many other ones now, go with them first, and only add others if they aren't already included in PingOMatic.

My list has been gradually shrinking with every new blog I build - I use that compressed list, too. Thanks for letting me know they updated it again - time to trim it back even more.

Thank you ... searched for that information quite a while now and I came across different sites which have huge lists of ping-services.
