WARNING: Email Spoof of The Warrior Forum

I just got an email where someone duped the headers into looking like it came from Warrior Forum Support Staff. The email is claiming that the WF is claiming that a popular IM Mentor & Coach is nothing but a scam and then asks you to go to a certain site in support of this.

I've reported it to the Warrior Forum Helpdesk (Warrior Forum Support) and I encourage all of you to do the same. Don't even click the links...there's no telling what it will really take you to.

Then he would be breaking rule #1. Jason did the exact right thing. If you see the email report it. If you don't, then the situation obviously doesn't concern you so why do you need to know?

He is well respected here and does not need to provide any more details than he already has provided. Read Rule #1 of the forum.

This is an issue that may cause an innocent person problems.
Why? - It may have been a name that is not that person really. It may be an innocent person completely.

This way the guilty gets away.

By just reporting it to the right people and let them work on it, will do more good.

I didn't write the rules of course, I only (try) to follow them

but motive and whether the allegations are true or not doesn't seem to be a factor when it comes to the rule. the rule seems to be there so that even when the allegation is true you take your beef off the board. this aint the place for it, is what I understand.

Actually, that's not true. Any old member with a beef often does have an ulterior motive and only gives one side of the argument, and that one side may not even be true and that is a large factor in the rule.

Some people follow the rules out of respect, some people never even have to think about it much and others follow the rules so they don't get banned, and others don't follow the rules at all.

the rule keeps WF from having to turn into an investigative agency, determining who is telling the truth. truth doesn't matter, motives doesn't matter, just don't call people out here is what it seems. i dig that, I think most people do

                      Slippery slope
We've done it before, maybe 3 or 4 times that I can remember in the past 15 years. The slope ain't that slippery.

With the huge growth of the forum and the need to constantly watch for these kinds of idiots, it's surprising it hasn't happened a lot more often, actually.
the rule seems to be there so that even when the allegation is true you take your beef off the board
That is precisely correct, and is what I instructed him to do. Just keep in mind that, in this case, the beef is WITH the board. Forging "Warrior Forum Support" into an email intended to spread a deliberate lie in an attempt to sabotage someone with whom you have a business dispute is a very different thing than doing it under your own name.

Rule #1 was put in place for a specific reason, a long time before you joined our merry little band. It was intended to prevent people from coming into the forum and doing just what this clown did using the forum as an alias. And what he did on the forum, using a new account he created specifically for that purpose.

If he continues to involve the forum in his crusade, I won't stop with posting his information here. I'll start with it, and work from there.

I will look forward to it.

The person in question gave up his "moral high ground" the moment he stooped to fraudulently claiming (forged headers) that he represented the management of the Warrior Forum to take his dispute public.

The perp is impersonating WF staff. Rules for them and rules for us? Yeah, I'd say so. I have rules in my house that I can break if I'm so inclined but others can't... and while it's not exactly Pauls' house, he would not do anything that the homeowner did not approve of.

It's a shame to see that adults are still willing to go to that elementary "he said/she said" crap.

Not sure who it is, or what it involves but chances are with behavior like that it's not somebody who I would buy anything from...I would hate to waste money on somebody that acts like that.

I frequently report Rule #1 violations, but I have also seen at least one case where that rule didn't apply.

The reason was that the person was committing fraud, and the community needed to be warned. It was a serious case, and I'm sure the decision to "out" her was not made lightly. I actually came to her defense at first, but then realized I was one of the duped.

WratihSarko can continue to stir the pot (Hey, why vary from the M.O., right?), but Rule #1 is there for a reason; however, there are times when the GOOD OF THE COMMUNITY trumps it--as it should.

Thanks for the warning. I also got this email and instantly knew something was up with it. People have too much time on their hands. They could better spend that time doing something productive.

        Bill,
Some people think that if they cry louder about a perceived injustice to a larger audience, then others will join their choir of whining and moaning.
As far as I can tell, there is no perceived injustice here. The evidence to date suggests this whole thing is a lie, designed to do as much damage as the spammer can to someone with whom they have a private dispute that has nothing to do with consulting.

But, as has been mentioned, that's between the two parties. Our concern is the fact that the spammer fraudulently spread those comments under an alias pointing to this forum.

And to everyone else: WraithDarko's opinion, however uninformed it might be in this instance, is his opinion. He has stated it, in civil terms and with what appears to be good intent. Discussing counter-opinions is also fine, but let's make sure that stays civil, eh?

I've spent the last 59 months building 412 MFA sites. Each site averages 8 cents per day...I said average, some make up to 17 cents per day, PASSIVE INCOME! This income allows me to live comfortably and buy ANY flavor Jolly Rancher or Skittles I desire. Don't give in to fear, it CAN be done!

    My apologies, Wraith.

Now, back to the subject at hand...

I don't know all the details of this particular situation, but I've often wondered why people do stuff like this. I mean I really don't get it--to the point that I can't even wrap my head around it.

Either way, thanks for the heads up Jason.

      They think that:

      1. They can fool a few who are unaware that the WF would not send that type of email out, and build a crowd around their soap box. They know they are playing for small numbers (if any), but are blinded by rage and will do whatever to get their gripes heard.

      2. They are delusional, and actually think that everyone will believe that they are a WF representative. These are usually people who came from dysfunctional families, were brought up around lies, and do it so often that they believe they can get away with it.

Hard to say without the details. From what I've gleaned though, the spammer feels that they were lied to. So in their head this is like vigilante justice, and they must do whatever it takes to get the "truth" out there. They envision themselves as Batman.

So blame Christopher Nolan, he made being Batman cool again.

Oooops. Sorry about that. No excuse for misspelling someone's name when it's right in front of me. And even if it's not a real name.

Destructive vindictiveness, in most cases. Some people just don't deal well with not getting what they want, or with being told "no." All the rest is just rationalization for their temper tantrums.

It really is usually that simple.

Or a one man revenge crusade for what the individual perceives as an injustice, no matter the evidence to the contrary. The world is full of them.

That's certainly true. I don't think it applies this time around, but that is quite common. Most of those are examples of egos getting in an uproar, too, though. Just a different trigger.

Part Two just landed in my mailbox.

This time, he is not spoofing the Warrior Forum Admin, and he does seem to be using his own name this time around.

He must have been disappointed with his first attempt. He seems to be trying harder to be taken seriously this time out.

He has been banned here under several fake names, so I wouldn't be too quick to believe the one he's using now, whatever that might be. The new one may be real, or just another lie.

The evidence I'm seeing is pretty convincing. Still, if it's pointing in a wrong direction, I hope the guy gets some resolution to his issue. I doubt it, though, as this approach rarely accomplishes anything useful.

Having seen so many lies from the guy already, I'm not inclined to give him much benefit of the doubt. People who believe what they're saying usually don't need multiple fake aliases, or to try and steal credibility using a real name belonging to someone else.
