Question for Amazon Affiliates

I notice amazon affiliate websites all the time for a direct competitor's products on amazon. Is it okay for me to contact them and see if they want to also promote my product on amazon or is that in bad taste or rude? Do affiliates have brand loyalty?

I'd like to get more amazon affiliates - I notice most of their affiliates do very spammy similar looking sites (so maybe it's one affiliate or the company themselves) but it's sites and links and traffic nonetheless.

My company has been getting a lot of news coverage lately and we have a ton of resellers who reorder fairly often. The other company has no resellers. I'm not sure if that's attractive to affiliates or what they look for when promoting a product other than rankings and stars.

    Some affiliates have brand loyalty but not always (nothing wrong in it too). Its just that they have gained much with amazon but you can certainly give it a try checking with them (never rude to ask someone who might be interested in promoting your business/products). I am an affiliate myself and amazon is not my only look-upto revenue source.
    For your last question, its purely to do with the brand name when it comes to choosing their affiliate source. But if your product has good conversion rate then, my suggestion is, its time to approach other means.
