How to start affiliate marketing?

I am a newb to this forum, although I've read a few SEO books and have really hit hard my website promotion efforts in the last few weeks.
I was wondering if there is a website that is sort of like a "meeting place" for affiliates to join forces together? Any advises on how to jump start the affiliate process would be welcome. My site supports affiliates, but so far, I'm still climbing the steep steps of SEO.

    there are peopel on here that make money through affiliate accounts. is that what you want? or do you want to start your own affiliate marketing program so that you have people under you selling your stuff while you profit?

      I'm looking for a 2-way street. I am offering affiliates an ability to sign up on my website, but also I am looking for affiliates to drive traffic from.

    You've already decided that Google traffic is the way to go, then? :confused:

    It's one way, certainly, though many of us find it can be rather an unrewarding one, not only because it's so precarious (a business which is dependent on Google for its primary traffic, as so many Warriors have found out to their great cost over the last year or two, can never be more than one algorithm-change away from a potential accident or even a disaster), but also because it tends to be poor quality traffic for affiliate marketing in particular (I think I can honestly say that in every niche in which I'm involved, over the last 4 years, SEO traffic has been my lowest-opting-in, lowest-converting, least-buying traffic out of every traffic source I've ever tried).

    This forum has a busy "Joint Ventures" section ... that perhaps sounds like what you mean, I think?

    Have you thought about video.
    Most of my affiliate marketing success has come from making my own videos. Indirectly promoting the product by providing a video that can answer a persons questions surrounding a problem they may have.

    Hello, I think you are in the best place. Try to use facebook for your affiliate marketing, you can see results faster than doing seo.
