Default Paypal subscriptions failing to bill

Hi

We have lots of subscriptions paying into our account for members paying monthly fees

A small number of these subscriptions have failed to debit on their due date.

There have been NO "Subscription Payment Failed" notifications for these (email or IPN)

The subscription status is still "Active"

But the "Next Payment Date" has already passed with no payment having been taken.

The problem seems to have started last month

This problem may be affecting other people without them realising it as most membership scripts rely on IPN notifications

Has anyone else seen this problem?

Thanks
Alan

Yikes! This is scary as I was about to launch a subscription site and planned to use Paypal. Anyone else seeing this??

It's most likely down to the subscribers funding source being a credit card or debit card which has reached it's expiry date.

We had a couple of days like that last month. Paypal will try again for you but you could contact the subscriber yourself, as they may not realise the card in their PP account has expired.

We always received "Subscription Payment Failed" notifications from PayPal though.

Dave.

Hi Dave

Thanks for the info - but I've been using Paypal for years - some subscriptions have been running for over 4 years

I've seen lots of "payment failed"

This is something new - this is not a payment failed - it's a payment not even attempted - it's only a small percentage but is a concern

I was trying to find out if this is a problem on our account or something more general

You will not detect it unless you manually check to see if any subscriptions are overdue

Thanks
Alan
