Strategy for capturing business owner emails in a niche

I'm looking for ways to sharpen and make my email gathering process more efficient. Everytime I test out a niche I gather 100 emails of the owners/founders/ceo's of businesses in that niche. Right now I do google searches of businesses in specific cities and find each contact on the company websites. This takes up to 3 hours sometimes because the owners only post their contact info half the time.

I'm thinking of utlizing some other techniques....
  • Email harvesting software
  • Online directories
  • List buying
How would you improve this process?

I use popup domination. It's a great lightbox software that puts your email collection box front and center. Don't just rely on that though-make sure you communicate your value proposition very clearly and spell out why people should sign up for your list.

I wouldn't buy lists if my only motivation is to sell to that list directly. I would send free content and get those list members to sign up to a FRESH list. This is one method of turning stale lists into fresh lists.

Have you tried Linkedin advertising...mostly decision makers and they have behavioral & GEO targeting thing is it's a little price compared to FB, but if business owners are what you are after it's crazy accurate and probably faster then what your doing.

Plus they will be reaching out to you instead of you chasing them down

Advertising on LinkedIn is a great idea, as suggested above, given your target market.

Alternatively, if it takes 3 hours, hire a VA for 3 hours as a one-off maybe? I needed to identify some businesses in a very specific niche to market to a few months ago and I hated having to spend so much time trawling sites when I should have been writing. So I hired a VA for 4 hours, gave her the exact parameters and a blank spreadsheet, and later that day I had the list I needed.

First and only time, for me, with a VA but she did the job brilliantly.

Well, most often than not, websites do not show the actual email address but a Contact Us page only. Given that scenario, your VA was still able to gather 100 email addresses in just 3 hours?

I'm thinking the best way is hire a VA for the initial 100 lists. If I find a niche that catches, then Linked In is a great way to promote the product once it's made. Thanks for the suggestions so far everyone!

There's some great offline email and site harvesting software on the forum. I've seen it work and would save you some dough
