War Room or PPC? For British Voiceovers

Hello,

I'm an English voiceover artist with a traditional British accent. I'm looking to promote my voiceovers and would appreciate some advice.

Apparently offering some voiceovers at a discount on the WSO section would be a good way to get started. The product is good and has consistently excellent reviews.

But the WSO forum seems to be quite cluttered, and I'm concerned I'd not even recover my $57 investment.

Does anyone have any recommendations? Is there likely to be sufficient interest to warrant the investment or should I put the money in PPC?

Thanks

Ben

    $57?

It's $37 to join the war room and $40 to post something in the WSO forum. $77*

I think you should save your money. Start a website, hire someone to do SEO on it (unless you want to do it yourself). And offer your services over in the "Warrior For Hire" section. This is how many article writers get started.

You're right about one thing. Offering a voiceover service as a WSO is probably not a good idea, at least until you get a portfolio built up. But it doesn't necessarily have to come down to WSO vs. PPC.

You've got a hungry market here. There are people looking for your service. Why not put up an ad in the Warriors for Hire section? It's $20 and LOTS of people look there for all kinds of services.

Save a TON of money by putting your services on Fiverr. Create tons of variations with different components and tagged differently. This way you get many ways of reaching your target consumers regardless of how they search for your services. Of course, make sure your tags and your service descriptions are HONEST. Or else, you'll just be shooting yourself in the foot.

Fiverr? You're kidding, right? Why in the world would anyone with talent want to sell it for $4?

You gotta start somewhere. Build a portfolio using fiverr. If you are really good, word of mouth spreads. You build up an efficient system which will pay off when you take non-fiverr work.

The bottom line: Hard work and sacrifice should not be feared. They should be celebrated. They are the cornerstones to real success in this world.

I realize it takes work. But fiverr is a pit. The OP can start here just as easily and make five to even ten times as much money for virtually the same gig.

The problem with fiverr is people start there and then never leave.

OP: Do yourself a favor and stay as far away from fiverr and other slave-oriented venues as possible.

For less than that you could join Voices.com and bid on an unlimited number of jobs over the next month. Unlike posting on a forum, they bring all the prospects to you instead of you going out and looking for prospects.

I took a look at that voice site and it looks like a great specialized services site. It's definitely a good idea to diversify areas where one advertises services. The more specialized the site, the better the sales opportunity.

If I want a voiceover done I go to Fiverr, there's a good choice of people there and I don't think it hurts to put yourself out there. I don't see any reason why somebody wouldn't use Fiverr as well as other ways to sell their services.

Earning a reasonable wage for a professional service, for one.

Can you imagine Morgan Freeman selling his voiceovers for $5?
