Article Writing: Optimizing your articles with right no. of keywords...

Regarding writing articles, someone said to me recently:
"Each post should target a specific keyword"

I'm wondering if there's an online resource that helps to optimize your articles / set them up with the right number of your chosen keyword etc.

Also what is the ideal number of words for an article and how many times should your chosen keyword appear in that article?

I just use the find function in word. Just type the phrase in and then count how many times you have to click next. Most people want a 1 - 1.5% keyword density, which is about 5 to 8 times per five hundred words.

The keyword prhase should be in your title, first paragraph and last paragraph, and then where ever it fits.

If you read your article in html as search engines would and make sure you have strategic longtail keywords placed in your header bullet points and footer you should be good to go I would also use adwords ppc tool for research and implement those findings with 1000 or more searches a month.
