Yellow Pages Australis (sensis) Working With Google
How does the Yellow Pages and Google relationship work?
Ive noticed when searching maps in Google Australia that down the bottom it says map data provided by Google, WhereIs (which is yellow pages) & Sensis (also yellow pages or technically it owns YP).
And then when you search for a business listing the Google+ and Google Places listings say that "business listings provided by Yellow Pages." which then links to yellow pages.
Im thinking two things A) this has an effect on seo and B) Why would Google give a competitor so much air time?

I know that last year or the year before YP started doing some massive advertisements offering all sorts of online packages such as web design, seo, ppc and social campaigns.
To me this kind of makes sense but then again, kind of doesnt. It all seems a bit weird. I mean why would Google hop into bed with Yellow Pages when True Local are probably the biggest online business listing in Australia and not Yellow Pages.
Seems like Google has basically just made YP their b**ch and are throwing them some crumbs along the way. I can only imagine the cheese ball sales reps from YellowPages now "Look sir, advertise with us and we'll get you onto Google..." Yeah right.
