I uploaded 2 videos advertising 2 ebooks on youtube and got banned!!!

I have two ebooks that I made 2quick 30 second sales videos for, uploaded them both within a few minutes and almost instantly got banned!!!

WTF Youtube!...

It's weird because I had 3 previous ebook ad videos on youtube and it seems these 2 new ones were the straws that broke the camel's back.

I got more videos to upload but don't want me new account to get banned?

what would you guys recommend?

Thanks Everyone!

J

Maybe you are doing something that violates their TOS. They have updated it recently so maybe its worth checking it out, no?

Yeah, I know I did and I think it has something to do with homemade advertisements that point people to cpa networks. My ebook is sold on a cpa network.

However, do you think the 2 consecutive (within 5 minute) video posts "flagged" youtube to ban me?

My whole account got banned when I did the 2 consecutive posts.

    • Hey Jt47 I'm sorry to hear your account was banned. Hopefully we can think of some ways to keep that from happening to you again.

Just to clarify, you had three previously uploaded videos on one channel. you then added two more to that same channel and your account was banned, is that right?

While you might be ok with a youtube channel that has all kinds of videos with 1 or 2 of these commercial like videos sprinkled in, it seems it might be pushing it to have a full account with nothing but 30 second videos with the intention of taking the customer elsewhere. Look at it from the perspective of youtube. Does it benefit them for you to syphon their traffic off and send it elsewhere? No, not really... They'd rather keep the traffic circulating on their site for as long as possible.

Remember Google owns Youtube and their standards for channels will be similar to their standards for ranking web sites. This means they'll be looking for channels to provide genuine user engagement, not a bunch of basically thin affiliate channels that only benefit us as marketers. Remember what the big scary panda did to thin made for adsense sites...

I think the answer is to create authority channels with engaging, creative videos that keep the user entertained, engaged and funnels them to where you want them to go. Having 3 of the videos below and 2 money videos (30 to 45 seconds in length directing the customer to the offer), your channel may have a better chance.

Here are some cool ideas for video presentations but get as creative as you wish:
      1. screen capture videos that show you what's in one of the products you're reviewing. done with jing or screencast o matic, camtasia, etc
      2. sliderocket presentation with voice over - try using an article turned engaging slide show. This will be at least 5 minutes and very engaging.
      3. Prezi - The Zooming Presentation Editor
      4. a puppet video made for you on fiverr
      5. one of the real testimonials for the product you're reviewing read by someone from fiverr on screen
      6. a full cartoon video from goanimate - Make a Video. Amazing Animated Video Maker - GoAnimate.

As long as your channel provides videos of all different lengths with a few of them being your money videos I don't think you'll have a problem. It might be a good idea to link those more informative videos with other short commercial money videos through annotations within the video.

      Hope this helps. Good luck!

Sory for your account. YTBE and other Social media rules change often, and sometimes difficult to follow. Usually it's better to do a kind of video info and then send them to a landing page where they will be redirect to your affiliate link.

Thanks for all the good info there! I didn't even think of the puppet animation from Fiverr.. lol! No all good info tho.

It's funny because I hear the statement and statements like "google like good content", "google doesn't like crap"..

I find that to be far from the case. I still see TONS of horrible micro niche websites that offer no substance, keyword stuff like crazy and have almost no content but yet they rank #2-7 for their given keyword. Yes, this may be before they do the dreaded dance but there's a ton of pages and videos that tend to stay up pretty high for their keyword and yes they are all crappy. Similar videos on youtube were uploaded in march 2012 by other users and they consisted of just a still picture for the video and then simply a link in the description... there's no way google can tell me that that video provides relevant and "helpful content", not to mention the thousands of amazon micro niche sites that are still ranked up super high and holding for nothing more than a picture of a product and then "cheap (keyword), buy (keyword), sale (keyword) and a ton of other LSDs on the same page.

Sorry for the rant.. I just feel that sometimes maybe we give google more credit than what its worth.

Just to clarify, you had three previously uploaded videos on one channel. you then added two more to that same channel and your account was banned, is that right?
Yes, it was banned right after I uploaded the two back two back.

Here's what I think happened... In the title of the video I used the buzz words "Clearance!!!" and "On Sale!!!" I'm guessing this is exactly and only reason why it got banned so fast. I don't think youtube can tell yet what's on your videos in terms of text, etc. Yes it can tell if your background music is copywrighted but thats it. Maybe video length has something to do with it.

Do you think that this could hurt my other youtube accounts that are 110% legit and all informational? Like if i piss them off too much, they'll ban my ip altogether?

      That possible?

Oh well, thanks to everyone for the help and support

Everybody should get the message by now: CONTENT, CONTENT, CONTENT!
If you need it repeated, just hit F5 on your keyboard.

Whatever you do online, you must provide content. When linking from any third party platform - link to a landing page with CONTENT and a CALL TO ACTION.

        After they ACTED on your CALL - Provide them with more C _ _ _ _ _ T!

If you got that right - give yourself 100%

        ANSWER KEY - {CONTENT!}
        {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[6998056].message }}
      • I can certainly understand your upset. Just remember that all of those sites that are thin and provide no content are only ranking because they haven't gotten busted, yet. The zebra update or the one legged frog update is bound to catch them, and I'm certain you don't want that to be you?

Google really does like good content, but the problem is that turf Google is managing is positively massive. So they have to find automated ways to catch and filter all of the crap sites, channels, etc. They're probably looking for exactly 30 second videos since so many of them are commercials created on animoto. It seemed even before now, that animoto videos had a harder time ranking of other slideshow videos. There is probably also some way to see if there are other videos on the same channel that are longer than the 30 second ones. They will continue to refine ways to find these videos, channels, MFA sites, amazon sites, etc. etc. because they have whole teams of highly paid people who's sole purpose is to do just that. It's just the way it is.

That being said, I think Google is actually forcing us as marketers to do our jobs better. To offer value and engagement instead of just going for the jugular with the quick and easy sale. And I think this is a good thing. Mainly because it filters out the riff raff that don't have the patience to do it right, leaving more customers for us real marketers to engage and lure into our own interesting and informative sales funnels.

Although I don't know enough about the banning practices of google to know whether they would ban your IP altogether, I agree that it would be smart to consider this ban is a warning. I wouldn't let that stop me, though. I would find another IP lickety split and either create another email or have a hundred or so made for me on fiverr. Then I would create engaging content around the 2 videos that got shot down and see if I could blend those same videos on another channel that don't leave my other channels under my home IP exposed. See if they just need company; or test to see if it's the words, etc.

While it could be the cpa issue, I have a couple videos direct linking to CPA and haven't had any trouble just yet. I like to test videos direct linking to see if the offer converts well enough to justify building a site for it.

Quite unclear why? not sure wording? video propose? license or else?

The video that got ban is one of my simple animoto video that I create to promote my niche website. I have done many videos on this but just only one of them videos got ban - and eventually they ban my account for all of the videos.

Well, I'm fairly certain that Google's purpose in spending millions of dollars on bandwidth to run that little video site isn't to pay for people to promote their little ebooks or the ebooks of other people. Just imagine if they allowed all those little crap videos promoting ebooks to stay. Youtube would be awash with little crap videos promoting ebooks and I'm fairly certain that the average user doesn't visit Youtube to see videos about ebooks. If they do, they don't get out much.

But I'm pretty sure that you have done something wrong.

I totally agree with the warrior replies above.
You need content, the quality of video has really grown up and you should not make crappy video.

To promote my product, I always upload "how to" and it works great for me, because a lot of people who watch videos on YouTube come for solution so you should give them what they want.

I think that banned you because they estimate that you don't give enough value.
But, just check out the community guidelines.
I have put you the link bellow.

I agree! you all might be right -the reason might be lack of Video-content value. But rather than they alert, warning, delete only that video, deindex video or else. They select to ban the whole account, delete all of the videos (including the good videos) and didn't tell exactly why. To me, it is quite too high penalty for the reason "not good enough video content" - if it is the case of abuse, porn, else. It will be more resonable to ban whole account.

Anyway, if we still use thier service - we need to accept, right?

So, we need to be more careful before upload new video on Youtube. If not sure, might need to seperate the account

I've done some searches on Youtube for information and
found these same types of videos simply telling you about
a link to find more information. I was surprised that they
survived review and always report them as SPAM because

Thank you so much for sharing this, I agree completely, marketers should put out value and quality content videos, and only the marketers willing to go the extra mile with quality content will stay on top of the game.

Take the same approach as you do with your web content, and you will survive. People get sold to much on the quick fix, where quality stays behind and litter the web with junk.
