Learn from my mistakes in list building-squeeze page designing..

I´m happy to share with you the results of my personal squeeze page experiments. This will help you see why you might not be doing very good with list building or better said generating the maximum amount of leads.

Here are 5 mistakes that I used to make when I was optimizing my squeeze page theme.

Mistake #1 - Being deceptive

Data has shown that being deceptive on your squeeze is not going to bring you the best possible conversions at all, but clarity does. By being deceptive I mean claiming facts of your free offer that are actually untrue you will see a higher unsubscribe rate and a lower conversion rate.

You can´t really say that you teach how to generate 200 leads a day if you are not teaching precisely that in your free gift. Your squeeze page´s value propositions must match your product values.

Mistake #2 - Inadequate or even worse wrong value proposition in Headline

Another mistake that you might make is to not use accurate information in your headline, meaning not being specific enough or lacking specifics.

Let me give you an example for a good and bad headline.

Good: Learn Easy Traffic Generation Methods That Can Help You Generate 100+ Leads A Day Again And Again By Using PPC

Bad: Learn About Traffic Generation Methods To Make More Money From Your List

People want to know what they "get" when opting in to your list and they are not interested in general information. Yes, you have to be persuasive on your squeeze page, but don´t neglect to state the real values of your product.

Mistake #3 - Inadequate sub-headline

The sub headline is a very important asset of your whole sales page. The sub headline should repeat the value proposition of your product as well as a call to action.

A good sub headline would be something like:

Enter Your Email Address Below To Get Instant Free Access To "Your Solution Here" Today.

Mistake #4 - Inadequate product image or video

You also cannot be deceptive here or you will turn off more people than you can imagine. Even if a deceptive photo/video might lead to a higher opt-in rate, it might not lead to a higher conversion rate.

You will get the most profitable opt-in rate by being clear about your product´s values.

If someone needs to enter the email address to see your video, you should only use this strategy if the person really gets to see a video after he opted in to your list.

The same is true for your product image: Be precise with what you have to offer to assure the highest quality leads possible.

Mistake #5 - Inadequate CTA (call to action)

This is usually the last element of your squeeze page that you need to split test. Let´s assume that your free gift teaches how to generate leads using PPC by applying your own strategy. Your call to action, meaning the submit button for your opt-in form should be saying something like:

• Teach Me The Strategy!
• Send Me The Strategy!
• Show Me The Strategy!

But for sure not something like:

• Let Me In!
• Subscribe!
• Submit!

In most cases the clarity in your call to action pays more than deceptiveness or inadequateness.

This is a very good article!

You have say what I always try to do since my first squeeze page which was sucks.

If you're not decptive people will opt-in better and your open rate will be bigger.

      Thanks

The best marketing is always clear and persuasive at the same time. You can't just claim to offer the world if you are not able to deliver it.

As stated in the thread, it's not about the volume of leads you generate every day but more about the relationship between each lead and yourself that you build.

Of course, these thoughts resulted from my own experience with list building and if some people experienced great results the other way, they might be doing a good job.

I've just seen for myself how clarity and continues value makes my future offers more and more attractive.
