Article Syndication: Recommended resources for becoming a better writer?

I have been combing through the forums and have become increasingly interested in article syndication. So much so, that I am now consuming the course "Turn Words Into Traffic" and a webinar on the subject, as well.

For those of you writing for the purposes of article syndication, do you have any resources that you recommend that will help me to become a better writer? I have a few ebooks from the IM world, but they are focused more on how to write an article quickly and inspire action while I'm looking for information on how to create articles that sizzle, entice and then inspire the reader to take action.

I would also like to learn the different nuances that make an article more interesting to offline sources, such as widely circulated magazines.

If for any reason I can't learn to do this, I am willing to outsource. :p

    Go for Ezine Articles. It's a nice article directory, plus it generates more traffic back to your website. I'm a regular contributor there.

    Probably the BEST route you can take. I think personally this is the way to go so you can focus on other aspects of your business.

    After writing 5K articles, I finally decided to find others who LOVE to write and work together with them. Smartest choice I ever made...lol. =-)

      Here are some suggestions...

      > Read. A lot. Different authors, different genres, fiction, non-fiction. Note what makes your eyebrows raise, what makes you go back and read a section again. You'll absorb some of the style by osmosis.

      > Write. A lot. They say that practice makes perfect. I say, at least as it pertains to writing, that practice lays down neural tracks in your brain and alerts your subconscious that you want access to that part of your brain where creativity lives.

      > Find a writer's group or two that you feel comfortable in, and participate. Submit pieces of writing for critique, and offer your opinions on the work of others. Writing thoughtful criticism and analysis is harder than it looks.

      > Get a good reference on style and grammar, and wear it out. "Elements of Style" is a classic and you can usually find it online for no cost.

      > One of the best ways to get feedback is to see how many people will republish your work, so as you become a better syndicator, you should get a better feel for what your intended audience wants and will respond to.

      Bottom line, reading about writing makes you a good reader. Writing with thought and getting thoughtful feedback makes you a better writer.

      An excellent book on writing is "The Elements of Style" by William Strunk. Stephen King's "On Writing" may be helpful. Also, "Writers' Market" provides article submission guidelines and editor contact information for a wide spectrum of major magazines and niche publications.
