Spam Likes on Facebook

I recently ran a few Facebook ads and noticed I was getting more than a few likes from what appear to be spam accounts. It's not the first time this has happened either.

Has anyone else experienced this before?

What are you strategies for dealing with this if there are any?

How do you define spam accounts?

If you did not buy Likes and you ran a real human traffic ads then it should be real accounts.

I believe you don't expect everyone to have full detailed profile information, that is not possible.

You can test ride by browsing through your "friends" profile.

Not necessarily. There are promo schemes that ask people to create real accounts and click likes on pages they don't really care for. Just because it is human and voluntary does not necessarily make it any better than outright fake bot-based ones.

The key is that it must be voluntary AND made due to genuine interest by ACTIVE FB members with an active friend list. Now, THAT is real traffic.

I didn't buy likes a la fiverr. I simply ran a regular FB ad.

The profiles look like spam accounts, like they were made to appear real but aren't necessarily used as a regular account would. I looked at the profiles and they seemed real shady looking.

It's widespread, covered in many publications, and Facebook's published their own announcements about the fake likes. It's not just you.

Fake likes on Facebook are too widespread to disappear

No this has happened to me too and super annoying consider we are paying for those "Likes". What seems worse is that the longer you leave these spam accounts on your page without deleting them, the more spam "Likes" you get through their pages.

I would recommend changing your targeted audience.

Narrow down the target fields as much as possible. Run a few of these ads narrowed down to different audiences. This has helped me alleviate most of the spam accounts in the past, but theres no surefire way to avoid them all.

If your convinced certain accounts are spam, delete them to prevent other spam accounts affiliated with those.

Hope this helps. Best of luck.

I actually did that, I created 2 more targeted ads thinking I would escape the spam and it still got me.

One account even messaged me trying to sell me more likes.

Makes me never want to run FB ads ever again.

You could advertise an actual website instead of a Facebook page. There is no "like spam" when you're not buying likes.

Wow thats crazy. Sounds like you had a worse experience than I did.

I wish I had some other advice you could try out. I'm curious to see if anyone else on WF has another strategy for you to try.

        Good luck.

I read it somewhere that facebook is going to take action against fake LIKES to fan pages. There are many fake accounts on facebook which are created to increase the LIKES for any fan page to increase its popularity.

I read that facebook will take action against them.

This is true. Data was released on the percentage of fake accounts adding to the list of reasons for investors to back out of their stock.

Lets hope they tackle this problem soon.
