I would LOVE to see some examples. Right now I pay people to customize wordpress themes for me, but with this, I could just pay to have the appropriately sized banner designed for me and put the banner on the site myself.

how about customizing the sidebars.. did you find any way to pick/size a new font? also, i know the width can be fixed too 800px.. wud it crash the layout?

how about the header.. that pic looks nasty.. like to replace that with a Google Ad or custom flashy banner

overall.. this theme looks cool

You can style the widget fonts/sizes in the widgets option. You can style both the title and the content. You can have any fixed width you choose, or flexible. Most of my sites use 1000px. I have one that uses 800px. You can replace the header with any graphic you like. If you upload more than one graphic, the display will choose a random one each time the screen is refreshed. I use ftp software to upload the header graphics.

Edit: There is an excellent support forum for Atahualpa too, where the designer will answer questions.

Nice theme. I'm definitely a nut for a good WP theme. For a long time I spent a lot of time customizing themes and take this one from one and that from another to get what I wanted until I found a them that had an admin panel that you could customize everything from on the back end. Been using it on all my WP blogs and none of them look like another. Not trying to hype it, just really like the theme

It's called Flexibility Theme

Worth checking out if you really want something nicely and easily customizable. The theme developer has been really good about support too, especially for a free theme.

Yeah, Flexibility Theme is a fantastic theme. Ryan has done a phenomenal job with this theme and I have been using it with my Amazon Wordpress Plug-In that I've been building.

Also, Ryan just released FlexSqueeze that allows you to create squeeze pages with Wordpress.

I downloaded the theme a couple of days ago, installed it on a current blog, it went all screwy so I did not use it on that one.

But is stored for use down the road.

That's a great theme. I downloaded it and will see if I can use it for any of the blogs I'm going to work on.

I have so much themes on my computer, I need to weed through them. I don't have use for them all, but it's so addictif to download them all. You never know if you find a need for one of them.

Interesting! I've just joined WF and am having a ball looking around. I just started a blog on one of my sites and had searched through WP themes... ended up choosin Atahaulpa because it had several features I wanted - and after I installed it found out how flexible it really is.

Cool to find out other people think well of it too! I'm still in the setup phase (well it's live but definitely not "done") - but already I'm a fan of this very flexible theme.

  That I don't know - as I mentioned, normally I pay people to adapt my wordpress themes because I couldn't code my way out of a wet paper bag - the reason that this one seems good to me is because it's free and seems very easy to customize without having to do anything complicated.

  You code it from the admin area. Here's an example from one of my sites:
  padding: 7px;
  background: #dbfff7;
  border: solid 1px #666666;
  
  I used this in the "widget title box" area
  
  Best way is to download it and try it for yourself. There are loads of changes you can make. It's a bit overwhelming at first.
  
  Start by experimenting with the "header" and "header image" options.

Why not just download it and give it a try - I am sure Dana didn't expect all the questions when she suggested it as a great theme!

NPMaster - yes, you can completely control just about every aspect of this theme from the WordPress Admin panel. Expand the Appearance menu and click on Atahualpa Theme Options.

Yes, been playing with it. you control everything inside, very nicely built. More features than you need.

i think I figured out the answer to my question. I set the right column width to 0 and it looks like it is gone - so that leaves me the 2 column template I wanted. I suspect the same would happen on the left if you wanted.

The " Atahualpa " theme looks very nice, and something I could use as a base to tweak pretty easy. I have never heard of it. Thanks for mentioning it.

I started testing a theme today that you might like called " Mandigo 1.40.1 ", and it has lots of the same features as the " Atahualpa " theme. Mandigo has been around since 2006 but I just discovered it today. It looks like they keep updating it.

From their site:

" Mandigo is a widget-ready one/two/three-column WordPress theme, available in seven color schemes (blue, red, green, pink, purple, orange & teal). The theme can also be displayed in two widths (800 or 1024px) and has been translated to thirty-eight languages.

Mandigo can be displayed in two widths, which means that even though the default layout is thought to accommodate users with a 800x600 screen resolution, you can also choose to set the theme width to 1024 pixels.

Also, while the default layout shows only two columns, it is possible to turn a second sidebar on from the Theme Options page, and the two sidebars can be aligned to either side of the screen, independently.

In Mandigo, it is also really easy to customize header images: just overwrite the default image with your own, and that's it, your blog name and description will be displayed over it. Contrast is not even a concern, since you have the possibility to apply a border and/or drop shadow to your blog title.

It is even possible to have different header images on a per-page basis: simply name your image after the post ID, upload it to your host server and you're done! And you can even have headers rotate randomly!
