How many times have you tried building some backlinks for your site just to give up on it a few minutes later? If you are like me that happens almost every day.
For example, Now that you have your blogs how do you go about posting a comment?
Well what most people do when they comment is they simply say something like "hey cool site, check out my blog "link"".
I can guarantee you this will not work; your comment will not be approved.
What you want to do is skim trough the article and look for something interesting about it that you would like to comment on or you have a question about. Try concentrating on a particular paragraph and ask a specific question related to the article and than mention your site as a side note.
Now commenting and spreading your links around is a good thing but if you can make it better and more effective wouldn't you want to do that? Of course you would.
Writing Quality Comments
When you are writing a comment think about it as an article. You want your comment to be closely related to your site and your anchor text; in other words your keyword.
I would suggest using your main keyword as your anchor text and then maybe trying to use another one or two keywords related to it.
For example if I want to comment on another SEO blog and use "easy and proper link building" as my anchor text I would write something like this.
"Hey that was a great article about backlinking strategies. You can never read enough about easy and proper link building technique and I am glad you decided to write about it. Do you have any other ideas of how to effectively build backlinks? I would really like to know what works best after this recent Google update"
So as you can see this comment is constructed in a way that it looks like a paragraph to search engine spiders and it brings value to the blog.
Why is this different than the first comment? Well let's take a look.
1. There are 57 words in this comment.
2. There is one main keyword that we used as anchor text; easy and proper link building technique.
3. Keyword density is almost 2% which is great.
4. There are two other keywords closely related to our main keyword: backlinking strategies and build backlinks. You could say that Google update can be considered another one because it is related to what we are talking about.
5. It is a legitimate comment that will be approved by most blog owners.
Why is this better than the first comment?
Beside the fact that the first comment will go to spam immediately and will not be seen by the blog owner you are also doing yourself a great favor by optimizing your comment for Google spiders. Those little creatures will recognize your comment as "valuable" and will give your link more value. So as suppose to having just a "regular backlink" pointing to your site, you will have a "quality backlink" pointing to your site.
It is not all about the sites that you are commenting on, it is also about your comment as well. Google looks at the whole picture when they try to decide how much they will reward you for that link so if you give your comment a little "extra" Google will notice that and will reward you.
