Increase Article Ranking

What is the best way to increase article ranking? I have submitted several ezine articles and i am being outranked buy older articles that have maintained a top 5 google spot for close to a year. how is this possible and how many links do you need tyo your article to increase and maybe get it in the top 5 positions?

Important thing is to make sure you bookmark your article to all major social bookmarking sites. Also, those older articles probably rank higher becase of their good keyword density and balance.

i looked at one of the articles and the keyword its ranking for is not mentioned anywhere in the body or title.

You could always check how many backlinks they have with Yahoo! Site Explorer or if you have it SEO Elite.

But yeah, make sure your keyword density is between 1 - 2.5% and submit it to all social bookmarking sites, I would do it gradually though, like 10 a day. SocialBot works if you need it automated.

Backlink your artiicles. Go to blogs and put your article link on them so people will check them out. Your ranking you go up

Ping your author RSS feed and distribute that feed to the many rss aggregators and directories.

Use free tools like Comment Kahuna to leave comments on other peoples blogs with a link pointing to your article.

There are too many ways to get links!

Just don't get caught up in the keyword density as good links will trounce it everyday. Also, in respect to the density, unfortunately, EZA puts a ton of additional text in the navigation of the page your article is on in addition to the links to other articles below yours. Unless you are going to take that into account, write your article naturally and build good links.
