Advice for Newbie vendor/experienced producer

Hello all! I ran a search looking for threads for the newbie vendor but I could not find anything appropriate. All of the threads I could find we're about beginner affiliate marketers hence this post.

I am new to the great big world of affiliate marketing. I've heard a lot about it and I have some blogger friends who make a living with it, and because of my experience in writing and presentation building, I got interested in the vendor side of the business. So I decided to make a product to be sold via affiliate networks, and now 8 moths later I have a product listed on clickbank but I realized that I have no idea how to market it to potential affiliates.

My question is : How should approach the task of marketing my product?

One side note. I have very limited economic resources and therefore am looking to start with ways to market for the least amount of money possible.

Well, being in a few major affiliate marketing portals is your first step. Clickbank, Share a Sale, JVZoo & PayDotCom are some of the bigger ones. These can bring the affiliates to you since they have thousands of affiliate marketers already in their portals waiting for new products to drop.

In addition to that I would recommend creating a small website to promote your product to potential affiliates and link to your product on the affiliate networks. Use the website as an informational type hub where affiliates that want to promote your products can learn more.

Then the next step would be to visit websites owned by folks that you think would be interested in promoting your product and contact them. People won't ever push your product if they don't know it exists!

It also wouldn't hurt to find a few authority blogs and forums in your market and become a contributing member. I would consider also having a facebook fan page, twitter page & google+ page for your product and you can link to those from your signature wherever you participate. Those social profile pages can then link to your informational website about your product.

    I hope this helps!

Thank you Dave for the advice!
I was thinking about listing on to other marketing portals. Is it appropriate to just make separate sub domains for the sales page of every different portal (like domain.com/product & domain.com/theproduct etc.) or will I need to get different domains?

I made an affiliate page that includes the basic information but I might as well put more effort in to it and really help with the marketing. I've also made a facebook page already but haven't really focused on how to apply it in marketing.

I think I'll start doing more research on the authority blogs and forums next. Stands to reason that I should market there where the focus group already gathers.

The product I'm selling is priced at $67 and I'm offering a 55% cut for affiliates. Is this percent reasonable?

I was thinking about adding the product these other affiliate networks but I feel that there might be some confusion with potential affiliates. Here's my issue: If I create several sales pages that all lead to different affiliate networks and a customer buys the product via let's say click2sell. A few weeks later they want to buy part 2 & 3 of the product (in production) and they come to the sales page via google and land to the clickbank sales apge, this mean the affiliate doesn't get a cut from the follow-up sales. This seems wrong for the affiliate marketer.

Does someone have experience in selling a product family via several affiliate networks at the same time? How is it done properly?

Can someone give me link to an affiliate page that could be rated as exceptionally good?

I am trying to get some inspiration for tweaking mine.
