My Membership site is damn slow! Why???

Hello,

I use optimizepress and s2member plugin for my membership site.

As you can see I dont have many images there. The one big file
is hosted on amazon s3 and everything else is really no problem
to load.

Still, my site needs around 10 sec (it was even 23 sec. before)
to load. I used some optimizing methods on cpanel and caching plugins.
Is there any additional advice?

My hoster is not the problem because another site on the
same ip loads very fast.

Here is my site: Kral of Internet - Internetten Para Kazanmanin En Profesyonel Yolu

Its do not have much image but do have lot of media in one page , from the pages I can find out 3 video . Try not to use too much javascript in one page which also will cause your site load slow.

Javascript, hm, I understand. And how can I avoid it?

These videos must be there, so I would just have the option to host them
    on my amazon s3 server.

But I just noticed that the Optimize Press | Pro Internet Marketing Tools is also very slow.
Could it be because of this theme?

Run a test through tools.pingdom.com. It shows you where the bottleneck is. I just tested your main page and it looked like it was js_cookie.js that was slowing things down.

Having said that, in my browser, it loaded fairly quickly.

really strange, so it loaded fast. I used pingdom too and also saw this js_cookie.js issue.

But I cannot see anywhere how to solve this problem. So, what can I do here?

  • Seoed,

You can try combining your CSS and JavaScript where ever possible. The fewer http requests you have the better. It is easier to manage these files when they are separate but slows down site speed. You might also try enabling mod_deflate in your .htaccess file to minimize these files.

This link talks about modifying your .htaccess file,

Speed up your site – drop in .htaccess file | Show Slow – Make Fast

    Hope that helps you,

Looks like a SQL problem to me, even though it's a small site. Find a better web host that doesn't jam pack their servers.

^^^^This is your problem. I guarantee you you're on an overloaded SQL server. You're using an unlimited web host aren't you?

Run your site through this tool:
GTmetrix | Website Speed and Performance Optimization

Then use P3 Profiler if it does not show EXACTLY what is causing the problem to see which plugin may be causing the issue.

I recommend getting W3 Total Cache and using Page Caching, Minidy, Database Caching and Browser Caching as well. If you have a CDN like Amazon Cloudfront and S3 that will help as well.

    All the best

I just tried your site and it's pretty slow, took about 10 seconds or so to load.

It seems like your database may be corrupt or your host has over sold, you'll need to dig in a bit more. If it's a host issue, find a host with litespeed servers.

Before trying anything too extreme, install a wordpress cache plug in such as w3 total cache and see if that speeds things up.

    HTH,

    Adam

ok, thanks for you all your contributions. however, I still dont know how to
    solve this problem.

my hosting company told me that it is the s2member plugin which causes the slow-down as it is trying to connect to paypal as well. hm, what do you think of it?

I somehow think that it is really a hosting issue because I oredered another package from them and that site (simple content wordpress blog without any images) needs according to GTmetrix around 18 sec.!!!

So, what do you think now? I have already sent them the speed-test results of that site.

Like I stated when I first looked at your site, those wait times are consistent with an overloaded SQL server. By change does your wp-admin load slow sometimes as well?

Yeah this is definitely either a SQL issue or a PHP issue - static content is blazingly fast, but dynamic content is slow. Even the 404 on js_cookie.js for OptimizePress takes forever to return. I would find out from your host if they have PHP opcode caching on (eg. APC), and also look at optimizing your WP database. I would do a straight SQL optimization disregarding WP in this instance - find the long running queries (mysql has a long-running queries logging option) and then check indices for those queries. If there is an index that is not being used by the query you can force it with table hints.
