    What?

I've never seen a forum that flat out just refuses to allow signatures and what a stupid move that would be the webmaster/administrator.

However, there are some forums that have requirements before people can add their signatures to their profiles. I'm assuming you missed over/didn't read some of the previously visited forums rules.

I did a simple Google search for Health Forums and the first four results were: One of them was simply a message board rather than a forum but the other three all allowed signatures, they just had some rules attached to them.

There's an argument to say that from the point of view of a health forum not allowing signatures and links is a very wise move and far from stupid. I suspect that in doing so you'll not get a whole herd of IMs invading who know nothing about the topic simply to get their link posted.

As someone who has websites with large user generated material we moderate everything now as 90% is off-topic spam.

...now coming at it from an IM point of view, I think that web-masters turning off signatures is completely wrong!

That's why you have moderators or an Administrator that polices the forums. As long as those IMers are providing relevant information and posts that are on topic, why would you not want them? This provides content for the forums and more active members.

It's hard to completely automate getting rid of spammers anyways, since some people still think that running Xrumer is a business model

although I tend to moderate one of my sites, most are completely unmoderated. Two reasons for this - 1. Resources - I don't have the time myself or money to pay someone to moderate; and 2. Legal - Once you actively moderate a forum you have greater legal responsibilities for the content. Sometimes it's far easier just to block signatures.

Sigs are often used as a vehicle for self promotion. This in turn compels people to make posts for the sake of being seen even though they have nothing of substance for their reply. It dumbs the forum down if there are too many of these individuals.

In the case of busy medical forums, they don't need fake health gurus posting there if they've already got decent traffic.

Toshiba, try to visit the WSO section. I believe I came across a thread there that sells something like a list of forums that allow signatures and they're sorted according to niche. I'm just not 100 percent sure though. But you can search for that if you want to.

They still do still exist. I think many forums I have seen don't allow them simply to weed off users who have an agenda, other than contributing o the the community (which isn't necessarily a bad thing people to do). I think it really depends on the niche.

A while back, I actually had a forum software program (white hat) that would search for forums based on keywords and would filter out the ones that wouldn't allow signatures, if you choose this option. It had a streamlined way to quickly register to new forums you found, and track your actions. If this sounds appealing, do a Google search to see what you could find.

I would continue the search for a health niche forum that allows sigs, or just dont add forum marketing as part of your strategy - if you can't get traffic to it.

It's getting tougher, no doubt about it. And many of the forums that do allow sigs won't allow links to sites with any commercial intent. You could always try paid advertising on these sites instead.

There are really many health forums that allow signatures , but most of the forums just don't allow you to post links right after sign up , you need to sign up and gain some reputation or some minimum post counts before you can start having signatures , but they do allow..

I have run a forum before and let me tell you, its a LOT of work.

Personally, I like it when forums don't allow profile links, but do allow sig links after a set number of posts.

This is the best way to knock out most of the spam in automated fashion.

That being said, few forums I have found can beat the sig power of WF.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here ....and say what you really want is traffic...and are simply looking for a cheap..free way to get it....right?

...If I hit the nail on the head...then stop wasting your time on who allows signatures in forums..

.....instead focus on creating content...and good content...every day.
..Do a lot of videos...if you're in the health niche...then make a video of you doing some exercise that will benefit people.

...then do articles....blog posts...etc...and do it everyday...for the next 60 days. Stop worrying about posting on forums that allow signatures to get traffic...and actually providing value to your niche....and the traffic will come.
