Realistic Newbie Goals

I am a complete newbie to IM, have never built a website, built a list, or flipped anything more than a pancake. Although I have been studying a lot bother before joining here and on this great sight.

I recently laid out my goals for getting started and getting an income flowing. Considering there is always something that takes longer than usual, and that I can commit time every day to this but do need to maintain my "real" job for the time being. I have 45 days to have everything working and at least a trickle of sales going.

So to find a niche, start a sight, build a list, start a relationship and get some people into the funnel.....am I completely delusional to think this can be done in 45 days?

Oh and I can take the truth if it is presented nicely.

    No you're not delusional.

It can be done in 45 days. I made my first sale many eons ago within 3 days of starting and entering a new market and building a list.

Though your goal simply seems to get people into a funnel and build a relationship with them, yes 45 days is adequate (for beginning the process and building a relationship, by no means the end!) for that, but it all depends on how you go about it. Be super cool to people who give you their details.

Be strategic in how you market to them. Here's a post to get you started on the basics of list building:

    So, what's your niche?

You can build a site in a day and get your funnel started with forum marketing or SEO or PPC or whatever.

Picking your focus is the hard part.

That is why I put choose a niche as one of the steps, I have not locked down a niche as of yet but have written a list of things I am interested in and know about and started research on these to find if they could be profitable.

Whatever niche you choose and however you go about selling to people, always remember the most effortless way to sell is to find out what people want and show them how to get it.

This way a lot of the selling is already done for you because they are already motivated.

Don't start with the product, start with the markets pre-existing motivation. A brilliant book that anyone who wants to sell anything should read is "How to sell anything" by Harry Browne. It's not a long read but probably one of the most vital books you will ever read if you ever want to sell anything to anyone anywhere anytime.

Anything is possible. Just asking the question to others hints at self-doubt. You don't need anyone to tell you what you can do.

My biggest mistake was thinking small. $100 a day income from IM is chump change. Keep that in mind while moving forward.

The most annoying thing is chasing long term SEO projects only to be wiped out when google decides to F&^# everyone over. Build a site, learn cost effective ways to drive PAID and TARGETED traffic to your site and scale once you are profitable. Rinse and repeat. Continue to work on the SEO aspects in the background.

^^^^^^ This is definately the hardest part. Once you have your niche chosen, the rest is simply following a proven method to get eyes on your site.

      Good Luck to you.

IMO, no its not possible. I've never seen it done without hands on coaching. You have to many mistakes to make. This is not a bad thing though.

I know a ton of people who learn just enough to make money from SEO or whatever, and then just get wiped out because their IM career is built up toothpicks

A much better goal would be to learn as much as possible everyday, and work towards making 100g 1-2 years from now

Well that is my goal, but my understanding is it would be very hard to make 100g in a year if all I do is study between now and then. So I want to start by making $10 first and build on it.

As a three month newbieJ, I suggest you to find a one-on-one coaching, and read as much as possible in this forum at the same time. Focus on one niche and try different method.

Definitely doable depending on amount of content you create, how much you have to spend on paid traffic, your ability to reach out on social media, and a few other factors. A lot of this is dependent upon your niche too.

Go for it! Chart your progress along the way along with the mistakes you make plus your successes and you'll have the makings of a great future WSO.

You can make money within your 45 day time period. But it's not about getting your "first" sale. It's all about getting recurring sales from your backend customers. This will require you to get a TON of frontend sales, so that you can have people to sell to again and again who will boost your profits.

It is totally possible to do what you are trying to do in 45 days. I have ranked review sites in less than 30 days and started getting sales. I have ranked Youtube videos even sooner and made good amount of money with it. Anything is possible if you have the required knowledge and willing to succeed.

If you have the right strategy you will succeed in no time. But finding that right strategy will take some time initially. Moreover i have seen many newbie quitting after trying their first online venture. You need to know the people are indeed lucky who are able to get success in their first online venture. But most of the people will not be lucky.

Well your goal is achievable. In 45 days you can do your first sale. Nothing is impossible if you just do it. Don't be afraid on mistakes. You should welcome mistakes because it will help you to know the effective way in your internet marketing journey.

I guess it is possible, yes. 45 days to make one or two sales is largely doable :-)
Personally my first goal is to earn $500 per week via clickbank. I've started 3 weeks ago, I still need to increase my earnings by about 10 times before I reach my first goal :-)
But I don't have a 45 days deadline, I put my deadline at the end of the year, and I'll try several methods before settling down for the recomended way only.

Well if you are earning $50 a week after 3 weeks then that answers the 45 day question.

I also have bigger goals but after laying out steps to my goals the 45 days is just to have everything up and running and have at least a couple sales. Then build from there.

Exactly! I am tired of learning with no reward.

It sure is possible but you need to employ the right strategy. You need to spend as much time as possible on learning and picking the right path, and then putting what you learned to use. You'll make mistakes but you you will know what NOT to do.

Many on this forum have something to sell you; bizops, coaching, SEO and so on. So of course they are going to tell you that your 45 day goal is fine. The truth is that replacing your day job even in the first year is a fine print "results not typical" kind of thing. You need to be mentally prepared for a period of making little to nothing. It could be 6 months or 3 years. I think it depends where you are at business IQ wise on day one.

I also take exception to the seemingly standardized process of "choose a niche, build a list, build relationships and then sell to the list." I imagine some set of fake gurus years ago experimented with bizop frameworks that made newbies the most excited and settled on this one. This is really the only corner of the internet where you see this process being pumped all day long. Realize that there are alternatives and that while they don't sound as straight forward and easy to implement, you may find they are a better fit for you.

In closing, I would say just have fun at first. Don't take this too seriously. Treat it as a time consuming hobby. Nobody has ever made good money online by setting out to make money online. Build something as a labor of love and if it's good the money usually follows.

I am not trying to replace my day job, yet, but would like to start a trickle of "self employed income"

You can DEFINTELY see sales within 45 days.

Even with old-school article directory marketing, you can make money within 45 days.

That's not what I recommend though.

The fastest money I've ever made (besides from paid traffic) came from selling a service.

Writing, graphic design, SEO, etc. Even if you're a newbie, you can spend a few days teaching yourself how to do these things, then start selling it on the Warrior Forum, elance.com, Craigslist, etc.

Pick a service or product you have some knowledge or experience in. Then learn everything you don't know about it from the vast reservoir of knowledge online. Set your blog up, get as many links to it as you, and submit new articles regularly.

It can be done. If you need a site that will give you some income along the way, here is a good one. You earn more interest on what you spend on advertising. So you will make money off your advertising purchase, plus any sales. Hope this helps. What is your niche by the way? That is the hard part trying to narrow down what you want to sell. I think right now i'm all over the place in that regard.

That is the hard part for me also, I have written down things I am already interested in but these seem to be things that are markets and I seem to not be interested in what they call the evergreen areas.
So I have broken markets down into niches but they do not seem to be great moneymaking niches.
I am researching more but also wondering if I should just get into a niche that looks better for money making and then learn about it.

Seems like a good plan, but need your first step action. Many newbies are failed because they have perfect plan but don't want action. They just buzzing forums, ask the opinion, collecting good ideas, buying killer products, etc. Trying to avoid failure, till they never realize that doing for nothing. Poor sales, overload and give up.

from experience until you are building sites at least weekly expect them to take 5 to 10 times longer than you think. and if you use wordpress make sure you do a search and add some security plugins, because it isn't secure. also make sure you secure your admin directory and move your config file up a level.
