Experiences with HubPages and similar

I've used Hubpages for a while, gotten several thousand views on my articles, and received about from $11 from adsense on them.

Hubpages has more value than just making money directly, it can also help building backlinks and getting traffic to your site.

Has anyone had any major successes using Hubpages or similar? Do you think it's worth the effort of writing articles? Would you recommend a site other then Hubpages for revenue sharing?

I have used Hubpages in past. I used to link it to my affiliate products. Adsense income always very less and on the top they used to take their 50% share.

I had got few thousands views and just 3 sales. I decided to leave it as it takes a lot of time writing unique articles just for them. Yeah I still used them backlinking purposes.

Yeah I think they still do that. The good part is that you get traffic, but of course any adsense revenue is shared.

I used to make a fair amount of Hubs, but I do not anymore. It just became so incredibly time-consuming to create one. And when I used that time to work on my own site, I did better traffic wise and profit wise too.

I've had a better reaction from Squidoo. I do however, enjoy using hubpages a lot just wish I could ustilize it better. As with both of them you need to work at it and work up a community and share your lenses and pages with other users of the sites

It is always better to own a personal site than participate in ad sharing sites like Hubpage.

Hubpage is just an easy way to start without capital.

The truth is, if you must make money from such sites and also yours, you need lots of traffic which involves doing SEO which i strongly disagree with building other people's business.

At the end, the revenue will be shared and any changes the site makes is final and could send you back to stage one again.

I've made money with them but they are freaking annoying. If they didn't want so many specific things or freak out every time I want to link to a website I'd use them way more. One thing they do have is a great audience though, you can move a lot of traffic to your hubs by simply commenting relevantly on other related hubs. I would say they're a good free start for people who want to start making money online by publishing content but after that then they're for backlinks.

I used to use Hub Pages to get traffic to my niche sites. Like others, I think they're a pain to work with now.

Squidoo, although I haven't used it as much as Hub Pages, is a good alternative. They too have their own rules that some will undoubtedly be unhappy with, but it's good for certain purposes, like Amazon affiliate pages.

Using things in right way can make you successful. If you are willing to earn money through hubpages only, then you are in the wrong path. Hubpages can generate a lot of targeted traffic to your site and you can utilize those traffic earn money. If you can earn something from hubpages, you should consider that as a bonus.

Hubpages is straight. I wouldn't spend time contemplating on Buzzle. Last time i checked you can't even link to your website (even in a signature!) from the articles that you post there.

Never managed to really get into Hubpages, I'm only making peanuts there. I'm making some decent money from Squidoo though - mentioning as you asked about "or similar". Btw for revenue sharing sites you also have Wizzley and Zujava that you can check out.

I've been on HubPages since 2010. It's my second best AdSense source. At one time I was earning $350 a month there. The problem is that lucrative topics usually become spammy over time, then they ask you to remove links from your Hubs, then the Hubs themselves.

It's much easier to get success on HubPages than it is on Squidoo. And it's a great place to try out new niches. In fact I owe my current empire of niche sites to one single Hub I wrote in February 2010!

That's a very nice result. I'm wondering how many articles you had to achieve that result? Were you aiming specifically at high CPC keywords?

The problem with hubpages is that, the formatting is limited. You can't even hyperlink an image to your product. Hubpages is less strict than squidoo but the formatting is terrible..

I noticed at least that they do allow links and even affiliate links I think, as long as there arn't a certian amount of them.

They've got quite strict recently so I haven't used them in a little while. Might go back and see if I can get a few backlinks from them again.
