      I disagree CD. That's a total generalisation because most of the people that I have dealt with here have been the exact opposite of what you described above.

      I recently had an incident where I was in a JV with someone and they got greedy and thought they could make more money without me. So be it!

      But I am not going allow it to poison my mind and let it fester for months and months. It's done. I will never do business with them again and I will continue to make a success of my own business.

      Let it go and do something SPECTACULAR now!!!

              I had posted a lengthy reply yesterday to a thread you posted entitled http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ur-parade.html but unfortunately got logged out and lost it. Here's a brief gist of what I intended to say:


              You quoted:

              YOU are the one who is stupid, and the handful of gullible folk who 'thanked' your post as if the words were a divine message from the messiah.


              Yet another another pearl of wisdom from you:

              1. Treat others how you would expect to be treated yourself on your way to the top because you never know who you'll meet if you're on the way down.

              2. Seek, read, look, and ask for advice, but ultimately stand by your own instincts and convictions.

              3. As the saying goes, "Rome wasn't built in a day", and everything takes time, so better to be thorough and late than arrive at the table unprepared and early.

              Nobody questioned whether or not you actually learned those lessons. Di was merely stating that she disagreed. If you don't want your POV to be argued against or questioned at all, keep it in your head.

              And yes, I am well aware that people pulled out on your product. The story is widespread, and pretty old now if I remember correctly. The Mind Warriors section might be great for helping you learn to let it go.

                I did not advise any such thing. I simply observed that if you do this, you will never be broke. It is up to your own personal sense of morality to decide between "I had better go do that" and "that would be wrong."

                No, not really. I say something will make you more money, and you think that's advice to go do it.


                This is because you expected "this makes more money" to be synonymous with "you should go do this." Because honour and integrity are meaningless in this industry. Most people do, indeed, mean "you should go do this" when they say it will make you more money. If you question their motives or intentions, they look at you like some sort of weird bug.


                Legal? Ethical? Moral? What part of "more money" are you not getting?


                Well, mostly the part where I should do it. I don't think "can" and "should" are the same thing. That's where loyalty and commitment come in - you always can run off and promote some other product that will make you more money, but when that means you have to turn your back on prior commitments, you probably shouldn't.


                Just a shame you "take care of them" in your own inimitable way by referring to them as "stupid people".

                I don't market to stupid people. If I did, I would make a lot more money.

                    This is kind of like telling someone "I don't understand why you don't just get a different degree" when they can't find a job in their chosen field.

                    I'm not looking in that field because I got the degree. I got the degree because I wanted to be in that field. I don't want to go start the whole process over in something I don't even want to do.

                    Ultimately, this is just a question of time. It will take longer; that's all. And I've rearranged stuff in a way that it doesn't matter how long it takes. Sure, I'd be happier if it happened faster, and yeah - I'm kind of mad at all the people who promised to help and then didn't keep that promise. But the system I'm developing has been in development for almost ten years... long before I had any real plans to make it into the kind of product it's going to be. Walking away from it is not really an option that works for me. It never was about the money, and it never will be. I've spent about two years thinking that I can actually make this thing work, and a little over a year having a pretty solid plan to make that happen.

                    Relying on other people is no longer part of that plan, but that just means there's a new plan. It's a plan where I do a lot more work and don't have things done on the same schedule, but the song remains the same.

                        When Caliban noticed the "me people", he decided that everyone was a "me person", and his attitude towards life flew south for entire year and indefinite future.

                        Yeah, he got burned by a few people he really trusted.

                        But rather than to move on with his life, looking to build relationships with new people, he chose to wallow in his self-pity.

                        It is a shame really...

                        Caliban is a sharp person and a talented individual with a lot of potential -- potential that many people see in him, but he cannot see in himself.

                        Of course, my post is really going to annoy him :p, because he doesn't like others to answer questions for him or to describe what appears to be going on his head...

                        Never mind that there are people rooting for him to get past the self-pity and realize his true potential...

                        Caliban is perfectly willing to help others, so long as he is not expected to try to help himself. And so long as we are willing to accept that, then we will get along with him just fine.

                          Most of those people actually like it that way.

                          They do not actually want to start a business. They want to entertain themselves with the fantasy that they will start a business. That's why they will buy a WSO about mobile one day, and about WordPress the next, and about CPA the next.

                          They have no idea what they're doing or how to fit the pieces together. They just want the rush of buying a thing about starting a business, followed by the excitement of consuming the product. And when the dopamine high is gone the next day, they go back for another fix.

                          There's nothing wrong with this. It's no different than me and my drinking. I like to drink, I like to be drunk, but it doesn't actually solve any of my problems and I have no illusions about that. Similarly, buying random products that make you excited will never build you a business.

                          I think you're a little inaccurate there, but you're close.

                          I do have a tremendous amount of potential, but unlocking it is something that I feel generally incapable of doing myself. I feel like I reach my greatest potential in partnership with others, so I always try to unlock that potential by seeking such partnerships.

                          All of the me-people I've gone to for help have been ostensibly us-people, which is why I went to them. I trusted them to be what they appeared to be; esse quam videre. Then they turned out to be me-people. Now I can't easily trust people who claim to be us-people. I know that there are real us-people out there, but I feel incapable of identifying them, and I've gotten very risk-averse in this arena.

                          Risk aversion is something a lot of people focus on excessively. I may very well be overly risk-averse at the present time. I am aware of this possibility but cannot objectively evaluate it.

                          Similarly, it is extraordinarily difficult for me to stretch out and do much of anything without a partnership arrangement. I have stuff to do, it's just very difficult for me to do it because I have to do it alone.

                          There's someone buried inside me that can do this stuff alone. I'm digging for him. Just haven't struck paydirt yet.

                          Yeah, that's kind of the thing. I'm mostly all spiky and bitchy about having to help myself. On some level, I feel like it's really unfair that I have to, after all the help I've given others.

                          There's supposed to be this "karma" thing going on here, or something. The principle of reciprocity. But instead, I get the business version of "I don't see no ring on this finger" every time I turn to anyone for help.

                          I'm just all out of trust. And I started with an awful lot of it, so people had to be some pretty outrageous douchebags to deplete it.

                          On another note, it's terribly funny to me that I post this kind of stuff all the time and people still think they need to read between the lines.

                            I used to think that way also: co-dependent.

                            But one day I woke up and realized that the only person I can count on is me, and so I went forward relying only on me, although welcoming those who were sincerely interested to have a real "us relationship".

                              I'm currently operating under the assumption that my next launch (scheduled for end of October, but I seriously doubt that is happening) will require every single task to be done by me and only me. This involves a lot of things I do not want to do, and a lot of things I am not good at doing, but it will demonstrate the minimum performance level I can expect. If all else fails, I can always do at least this well, all by myself. And that limits my risk rather dramatically, which should similarly decrease the aversion and make it easier to reach out for partnerships in the future.

                              "It is what you see." Frequently translated as "to be rather than to seem," but as a legal principle it's generally applied when the true nature of something is confusing, and the judiciary stipulates that it will be treated as what it is presented to be rather than what it actually is.

                              For example, if someone advertises a lottery, then gets charged with operating an illegal lottery and mounts the defense that it's technically not a lottery... the judge can say "we don't care what it is, you called it a lottery and we will treat it as one." This is usually because the statute says you can't operate a "lottery, raffle, or other system in which blah blah blah" and the defendant says blah blah blah doesn't apply. But he called it a lottery, so it's a lottery, and the law says no lottery so go directly to jail.

    I would have two to add:
    1. Never give up on your sites, even if you are not getting sales yet, or even after a longer time of period (for somebody it takes even a year to get a first sale, if I remember correctly for me those were more than 6 months to get the first sale);
    2. Do not put all eggs in one basket (by that I mean not only to put everything on one site, but even on one affiliate network, it always is safer if you have more sources of income especially if you already have quit your day job)

    I've always been interested in learning the "permanent" stuff that I can carry with me even if I woke up in the middle of the street one day because a tornado wrecked my whole town while I was sleeping and took my house with it (a very deep sleep), or was teleported back 500 years.         How does one determine if they are taking the right kind of action?.
        One thinks its the right type of action therefore taking it.

        In other words one wouldn't be taking action if they thought it was the wrong type of action.

        Imho,
        You would only find out if it was the right type of action when the desired results have actually been achieved...

    1. Think for yourself. If you always think others are smarter than you or have secrets you need to know then you will always be right. That doesn't mean ignore advice from reputable sources. But it does mean that you should process any and all information that you absorbed for yourself rather than blindly thinking what you read is absolute truth...it rarely is...that includes this post.

    2. Never, ever spend one penny with any "expert" who only operates in the IM niche. If they have not used their "secrets" successfully in other niches then don't give them a wooden nickle. If you find an marketing expert that makes the majority of their income selling IM products, not always, but the vast majority of the time you have found a person who either knowingly or unknowingly is leading people astray (while they make money of course). The majority of the time these same folks would starve to death marketing for a living if you told them they couldn't be in the IM niche any longer.

    3. Do more. Fail faster. you will learn faster and get smart real quick that way. Otherwise you will just be dreaming about the perfect system or scenario this time next year.

    1. It's a numbers game. Like anything in life... the more times you do it, and keep going then the more likely something will hit.

    2. Don't put too much emotion into a project. It doesn't need to be the best or a 1 hit wonder (which is hard to do). Do this as many times as you can (kind of repeated first point here but that's how strongly I believe in this)

    3. Network with real people. (Not like the people arguing in this post but in a friendly way )
